Yes they do, our spending over the last 3 windows is on a par with Bournemouth, Villa, Newcastle, West Ham and other nothing special clubs.

Which means we dont spend any more than the rest of the league.

what about total player wages? I am certain we outspend the clubs you listed. In fact, I’d wager we spend the most on player salaries outside the Sky 6.

How was he supposed to win anything with them, when he was sacked halfway through the season. 3rd in the league with a game in hand and top of their champions league group in which he didn't get the chance to finish. For all we know he might have gone on to win the Champions League again, but they wanted Zidane in charge.

Are you deliberately overlooking every detail.

He didn't though. If he was that good they would have kept him. Same as Liverpool would have.

Are you deliberately overlooking the detail of him being a divisive character who a large portion of our fans, rightly or wrongly would not want? He would be on a hiding to nothing.

This next appointment has got to be the right one, someone we can all get behind.

A lot of people vilified us for taking Sheedy and Beardsley from them. Look how that turned out.

They are players, its not quite the same. Sheedy barely played for them. Beardsley was good for them (because he was a tremendous player) but he is not a Liverpool legend unlike Benitez is.

Steve McMahon turned into a Liverpool legend.

Personally i would have no problem with Benitez, probably the most qualified manager we could get. Anybody that can win a European cup with Djimi Traore and Vladimir Smicer has something about him, not to mention Valencia and the job he did there.

They did “win it” but secured it via a fluky penalty shootout.

Pretty sure we are fifth for wages.

According to the Guardian we are seventh for wages and seventh for turnover. In fact 77% of turnover goes in wages

Are you making things up.

He completely rejuvenated LFCs academy which was destroyed by Houllier. I'm not getting in to the guys who came through there, but let's just name Sterling and Suso for starters.

How did he leave a mess behind at Madrid, Chelsea and Inter when he wasn't even there for a full season. How did he leave a mess behind at Napoli when he's so revered there and acknowledged for the squad he built there which is still reaping the benefits from. Again how did he leave a mess behind at Newcastle when 3/4s of the squad he signed and transformed the academy.

They BOUGHT Sterling mate.

The same coaches who brought through Gerrard, Carragher, Fowler, Owen etc were all phased out. Benitez tried to bring through a load of Spaniards like Nunez and Suso and none of them looked close to cutting it in the PL. How many home grown talents broke through from 2007-2017ish? It took years to fix, none of his coaches are there now all were booted.

He took over a Inter after they'd just won the treble. Was arguably the best Italian club side ever, and inside 6 months he had them 6th in the league was booted out. Atonishing decline and embarrassing management.

Chelsea he took over mid-season and did mixed. Yes he won the Europa League but people forget how strong Chelsea were at the time, they'd won the Champions League the year before after all. They had Lampard, Terry, Cech, Cole, Ivanovic, Hazard, Ramires, Cahill, Mata, Mikel and others. Had they won nothing that season it would have been unbelievable. You don't get much credit winning a cup with a squad like that when you never signed a single one of them.

Took over Napoli after they'd finished 2nd and left them in 5th, they won a cup yes but didn't qualify for the CL either season he was there. He's not "revered" by Napoli fans, all things considered he's regarded as having definitely failed in Italy across his two spells. Sarri is the person who came in and built that side.

He took over Madrid and had them in 3rd place, his reign is considered their worst period in the past 2 decades over than Lopetegui's.

Even what he did Newcastle doesn't look all that impressive now considering where Bruce has got them. I thought they'd be nailed on to go down but in fact look like they'll be perfectly alright, somewhere between 11th-15th.

To sum up, Benitez is not a crap manager. He's just definitely not one of the best either, he's just one of the best when it comes to promoting himself. He's not what Everton needs in 2019, we need someone with a vision who will put the building blocks down for years to come and completely turn the club back into a big time player. Benitez is not that man, not a chance.
