But in context it was said Baines makes Pienaar more effective, you could argue vice versa as Pienaar gives Baines room to play. Lescott scored 10 goals playing behind Pienaar....see the connection?

Without spamming this thread on the Pienaar issue, the inevitable is going to happen and he will b off. I think you find it tough to argue we haven't got our money's worth. Id love to make a profit on our $2 mil investment to be fair.

Because of the size of the initial wages (which in coming here anyway and what we offered would of been far higher than those in Germany or Holland).

Because they were difficult negotiations which almost broke down the first time round.

Because they refused to lengthen the contact any longer than that length. It was widely discussed at the time on Radio City Sport.

That his agent has been a complete belter.


That he does rely on other players to be effective. Therefore he's really not that good.

That either way - Pienaar and his agent's views on their player - RECALL PERFORMANCE IN WORLD CUP ... and this season...

If him and his agent were such obviously snidey fellows why on earth were we dealing with them?

Thats right, because we are happy to work with them when it suits us, i.e. we get a decent player in to help improve our team. Yet now he wants to leave its a huge issue.

We can't have it both ways. Its the nature of football at the moment unfortunatly. Say what you want about him as a player but theres no doubt he has been a very important player for us since he came here.

And if the intent was obvious all along from him and his agent we were obviously happy to use him for his football skills.

Maybe if him and his agent weren't such snidey fellows they wouldn't wanted to move from Dortmund in the first place.

We benefitted from the deal just as much as they did.

Indeed it is. Conversely you can point at Coleman's record on the right and say Neville has no assists/goals.

I've been over how valuable or otherwise Pienaar is on another thread - to put it into one word, he's "decent". Not "fantastic", but "decent".

We'll just alter how we play on the left to make it similar to how we play on the right. Losing Pienaar isn't the end of the world by any stretch of the imagination; it's just an inconvenience.

Most if not all of those were set pieces.

And he wasn't just playing left back as Nuno Valente was still here as well as Baines.

For me Pienaar has been brilliant for us to be fair. I loved him when he came despite the fans giving him **** at the start. He's been great for us and worked hard in EVERY game without always playing well. I don't like the way he's ****ed us about and has suggested he might STAY on NUMEROUS occasions the last one being LAST WEEK !!! (Sorry S however, his agent is a dog. Steven should be applauded for his ON FIELD play but NOT HIS OFF FIELD STUFF.....

I will miss him though......
