Let me guess...

* Spurs approach and get a pre-contract agreement.
* Chelsea come in and bid £3m.
* Spurs panic and also bid £3m. Everton knock it back as they're tired of the way Spurs are doing business.
* Chelsea talks break down over signing-on fee and wage.
* Spurs then have the £3m bid accepted, but are trying to haggle down to around £2m as the competition is gone.
* Pienaar's agent talks up interest from abroad to speed along negotiations.

I don't think Spurs have ever upped their offer of £2mill. They know Pienaar wants to join them. It's all sorted. Chelsea are rejected but Spurs won't budge from £2million, so Everton refuse to let the player's representative talk to them. The Agent spits his dummy out, threatening Everton with his client signing abroad which means we receive nothing. So basically stand-off. Close?

Perhaps we should threaten to bury him in the reserves for the remainder of his contract. See who still remembers him then.

I still think at that price he's worth hanging on to. It's only a couple of rungs up the Prem ladder prize money, and with him we can achieve that

Pienaar isn't going to get a game at Spurs.

We play to his strengths. If he isn't the focal part of a team, if play isn't constantly going through him, he's half the player. That's why he flopped at Dortmund, and never got a kick at the World Cup.

In two years, he'll be linked with a return.

Dunno ya' know , B. Mizzzzzz' .

Kid can play like . Grafter too . At Tottenham ...????

MOVED to Real Madrid , poss' B.Mizzzzzz' .

I know we go on about city, and boy do I hate them and their spending, but Real Madrid really do go in for everyone, don't they? I suppose it's easier to take when they're the biggest club in the world anyway, and in a different league, but it is shocking the cash they throw around.

As for talk about Bale being moved to accommodate Pienaar - I'm assuming that's very much tongue in cheek!

Just saying that's the only way he'll be a success at Spurs.

He's too slight in stature to play in the middle, and I don't think he can run directly at defenders to play there either. He's not a right winger either as he'd be crap cutting in on his right foot; everything he would do would be horizontal.

So Bale to left-back is the only way he'll play. It'd be stupid, but otherwise he's going to be one of the long line of stupid signings for Spurs, a la Naughton.

It was the wages .

HIS PROBLEM was signing for buttons due to BEING A RESERVE ,...

Same or slightly under what Everton offered I heard. Funny, funny, funny!

It'd be hilarious if he had to backtrack and stay at Everton as he can't grab the contract he wants elsewhere!
