When Moyes was questioned about Pienaar a week or so ago, he said rather cryptically 'I would hate to think there is no room for manoeuvre', implying that Everton could still attempt to keep him. Is this now dead in the water?
Something about the whole episode feels unreal. I may be clutching at straws but I just can't believe that Kenwright is stupid enough to watch a multi million pound player walk out for nothing, with no hope of a similar standard replacement. I can remember Walter Smith pulling out all the stops to re-sign Craig Short. His contract was just about to run out, so Walter promised him all sorts, got him to put pen to paper, and then promptly sold him a month later.
Is there really no hope?
