Everton and VAR

The reason why there was no penalty is the following current interpretation of the rule:

"So a handball will not be awarded if the ball touches a player's hand / arm directly from their own head / body / foot or the head / body / foot of another player who is close / nearby".

The fact they took so long proves even they had to check. And still comically got it wrong

The tackle on richarlison is a bigger shout than dele hand ball.

I’m surprise the whole team look subdue when richarlison went down.

The referee didn’t even initiate a VAR review at that point. If the team went berserk and surround the ref, the outcome might be completely different.
He doesnt help himself though, he goes down theatrically holding his head at any opportunity, I dont think even our players know when he's faking it or not!

Taking all this away about how right it was or otherwise with the handball, I hate the way VAR is being used. 3 minutes out of the game for a marginal handball decision isn't football - it's relying on technicalities to get a goal. The header wasnt going in, or anywhere, so I dont really care if it's right or wrong, it's situations like that that are ruining the game for me.

There is nothing wrong with VAR it does what it's supposed to do its faultless. People kick off denouncing a perfectly good system, it only goes wrong when human beings, or referees, get involved. Today Atkinson pronounced to the Premiership that it's permissible to elbow, kick or shove Richarlison whenever you want. The partially trained buffoon on VAR was a party to that decision he has no right whatsoever to operate in that fashion. Many players are renown for diving but they still get protection, Mane, Salah, Vardy just to name a few but none have been treated in the fashion meted out to Richarlison today. That decision has nothing to do with VAR but bias officials corruptly fixing a footbalk match by operating above the law.
If players can have red cards why not referees because the performance of both officials was foul in the extreme. The beauty of VAR is that these gormless fools are exposed for the third rate decisions they arrive at and if it continues charges of corruption must be made.

That makes no sense. If Mina heads it toward goal and Alli blocks it like that, surely it is a penalty? Football authorities are really low on common sense.

The decisions were extremely frustrating BUT it's a terrible sign when we're moaning each week bout ref decisions. It's the signature of a mid table/relegation scrapping side.

They will interpret the rules to suit the decision. Ali marking mina is a mismatch so Ali has to go with his arm up so high a Stonewall penalty and exactly what var was brought in for .but we will roll over again and get our belly tickled and no one will put up any criticism of the last couple of league games

It's really not the sign of a mid table/relegation team, it's a team that has been denied an opportunity to score or get ahead in the game again, when the rules work for others but not us then we have a right to be aggrieved

Don't let the fume get in the way of us being dire. We need to play better so we won't rely on decisions that take 6 replays to come to a conclusion.
