Apparently they exchanged texts but Mourinho declined the job offer because he's already accepted an offer from somewhere.
Add that to him wanting a job back in the premier league and Everton looks a good bet.
Wealthy owner, club wanting to head back to the top table, local rivals that he'll wind up.
You just never know.
If I was a betting man though, I'd put my money on him taking the Milan job, they've got bags of cash and are badly underperforming. Gazidis taking his 'Midas' touch over to Italy
Thing is, if there is any truth to what Lyon's president is claiming, then it simply won't be us.
Unlike some on here, I believe we could get him If we really pushed for him. But for him to have already have agreed on a new club, then talks would have had to be going on whilst Silva continues in post. Other clubs act like that - ruthlessly - Levy and Spurs would do that whilst Poch is in post, but we won't. That's why we will remain mediocre.
We will give Silva as much time as possible to turn things around and then, when it is apparent to the board that he can't, they will sack him without a replacement arranged. Then they will scrabble around for another Allardyce - probably
Moyes - as a short-term appointment.
Moyes will steady the ship, like Allardyce, but unlike Allardyce, will be loved by huge swathes of our fans who will delude themselves that things are different this time and will want his permanent appointment, leading to issues at board level.
I can just see it now. We are a reactive (albeit incredibly slowly reactive) club, not a pro-active one.
Really hope I'm wrong like!
