where does Tim Cahill Fit In Now

i would say 4-1-2-1-2

howard
neville jags distin baines
fellaini/rodwell
wide player 1 wide player 2
cahill
saha beckford

arteta coleman bilya osman and pienaar can duke it out for the wide positions, we have a full squad of capable players so lets get some competition for positions going. cahill is good enough with the ball at his feet to play centre attacking mid, and this would still allow him to get into the box and be a threat.

this would definitely be a more attacking formation, as arteta tracked back to defend today far more than cahill does generally, but if fellaini keeps playing the way he does at defensive mid and our cb's keep up the good work i think this formation would work well

I've been pining for the diamond formation for ages. I like it. Although I wouldn't mind seeing Bily get a chance in the AM role.

This is a tough question.

I don't see him fitting into a 4-4-2.. Not with our midfield players..

Striker  Not likely.

Lovely.....one win and suddenly the most consistent performer we gave had this past few years is to be jettisoned in some people's eyes.

Tim would fit lovely in a four man midfield plus he would bring an extra goal threat to compliment the two strikers.

Let's hope that when he returns it is impossible for him to walk straight back in the team.

But if he does, he won't let us down.

I think you have it wrong mate.. We just wanted a more positive formation, we got it, and now we are trying to figure how Timmy fits in..

Who do you replace in the four man midfield.. ? ?

Fellaini? Arteta?

If we played a diamond, i'd rather see Coleman at RB, with a narrower central mid for the FB's to overlap and give us the width going forward. Fellaini/Arteta/Rodwell/Cahill.

but......

I am amazed how people can be saying where will Cahill fit in? He's almost single handedly kept us in goals so far this season.

One game won there, lets see what happens hey.

I sometimes wonder!

I thought about Coleman at RB, but Nev at his best is a much better defender..

I think.....and hope.....that Seamus's days as a full back are over.

He is too good as an attacking right midfielder.

one win and some here are talking like cahills return will be the problem, c`mon...

but anyways, huge win! :)

if we keep playing like this, cahill knows he must do extra work, i think it wont be a problem.

I think when Neville retires , Coleman will be a wing back..He does need to sort out his defending tho and that's down to coaching..Coleman right back and a good right sided player with pace..need to have on the right what we have on the left right now..Will need to replace Pienaar if he does end up going..Possible Billy.
