He would be registered as an Everton player immediately after the transfer window. His registration would hten need to move back to Chelsea in the next window which is in January.

Keane and Mina didn't look bad in any of the games they played together last year. Most of our defensive nightmares came when it was Zouma/Keane or Zouma/Mina.

But... Zouma is a good player and has pace which neither Keane nor Mina possess. We need a player who can match that pace to come in.

The first half an hour of the Chelsea home game in which Mina and Keane played together was quite easily the worst we defended all season in my opinion, including Spurs and whatever else you want to mention. We were utterly shambolic, but because they didn't score everybody forgets.

Even though I rate Zouma, it doesn’t seem very top 6 waiting for Chelsea’s cast offs.

You want specifics? Well Luiz is miles better on the ball at just about everything and Christensen is more disciplined with better positional sense, so there’s one thing each. If Zouma could improve those aspects of his game he might stop getting loaned out in his mid 20s.

I wouldn't go that far. It wasn't great but you mentioned the Spurs game which was well worse.

The key in both instances was Gana though. The Chelsea game he sorted out Hazard and we were good. He didn't play the Spurs game so there was no sorting that out.

Getting in Zouma or someone else to push Mina and Keane is important but Mina and Keane or anyone else are going to be in trouble without a new midfielder.

Chelsea can't buy anyone, his not coming, move on.

His going to be in the starting 11 for Chelsea's first game of the season for goodness sake.

For a lad that has proven on numerous occasions you know sod all about football that’s a very definite statement

I have faith we'll sign him. I think he's getting a run out in preseason to drive the price up, but I am not convinced that Lampard does or will see Rudiger and Zouma as his nailed on first choice partnership.

Rudiger is by far the best CB there and the others are probably much of a muchness. Zouma would command the highest fee right now (but this would markedly drop after a year on the bench), so it makes sense for them to squeeze what they can out of us.

They'd still be left with Luiz, Christensen and Tomori to start the season with Rudiger seemingly back soon. Azpilicueta can cover if need be, though he's better as a CB in a 3.

Probably being overly optimistic, but I'm expecting to see his beaming smile in an Everton kit on TDD.
