Think Digne was always decent, just never gonna displace Alba. Gomes, for sure. Although he was touted as one of the next biggest things at Valencia + was in the national team. I'm just not convinced by Malcom - and the Echo are saying we have no interest in him anyway tbf.
 
We do need depth at winger. Lookman is gone and Walcott is not very good. I like Zaha in a vacuuum. But I can't justify spending this kind of money on a winger when we have openings at positions of greater need which are harder to fill in the market. You can fill a third/fourth winger spot with a younger/cheaper (or even academy) player, but a striker and good DM are harder to find.
 

Have him all day long over Walcott on the right, annoys me more than most opposition players as he is whiny so and so, I can get over if he is blue nose whiny so and so.
 
Maybe worth 30 mil tops, I really hope we don't do a Bolasie.
We really need to get the big money signings right or we haven't moved on from Koemanism.
 

Fits with the story the other week that Brands would like a 'statement' signing. You realise how big this could be when you see everyone laughing at us and saying he's out of our league, and why would he be interested in us. I'm not saying it's going to happen, I don't even know if we're really in for him, but come on guys, let's see a bit more positivity.
 
From what I’ve seen of him, I don’t like the fit of him as a person. I don’t think you should build a team around a personality like that.

Apparently one of Bolasie’s biggest flaws is that he’s an absolute grade A tit that nobody likes, and after seeing a few of his Instagram videos last season I 100% whole heartedly agree. I think Zaha is in the same mould.

Personality wise we need a team of Digne’s and Richarlison’s, Zaha doesn’t seem the right fit for the money banded about.

Because it’s about value. if we can afford zaha then we have 80m to spend on a cb and a genuine number 9. They represent better value as they are positions we are desperate for players in.

Zaha at his age doesn’t represent value at 80m. He’s priced right there intentionally to make him bad value because palace don’t want rid of him. Also he would want exorbitant wages, and we have to be mindful of ffp.

it's a big issue if 1) spending money on him leaves us without money to spend on someone else, and/or 2) if he signs for exorbitant wages and that prevents us from offloading him should he not perform. Previous regimes' recklessness in throwing around money has left us with a bunch of expensive failures that we can't get rid of.
