And Brands is also making signings with DCL in mind, suggesting that he's who we're hitching our wagon to going forwards, so they must have faith in him. Great to see
They were the best bits for me as they showed (If true) that we're still prepared to give youth a chance and also that Brands and Silva agree with the section of the fan base who think that DCL can still improve
Nah I like Calvert-Lewin to be fair. He's got a long way to go, but there's something there. Really not sold on Holgate though, I just don't see it with him.

I imagine there must be a diktat from on-high about shipping players out before committing any serious resources to incoming signings.
There wasn't enough progress on this last year, and there hasn't been so far this either, both in terms of selling players permanently and any fees re-couped, an admittedly tough job though it is.
Perhaps its time for a concerted effort to rebalance the numbers before seeing any money spent (Delph aside), that would be my reading of things.
I wouldn't expect much activity inwards until at least the end of the month, and it looks as it another last minute scramble might still be on the cards.
