Just can’t see Costa happening . Does he really fit into the Brands philosophy? I read somewhere that Malcolm would have to be signed rather than loaned in as he wouldn’t get work permit also Barcelona need the money . We are getting to the stage with what less than 4 weeks to go where we are either going go for it and not pass up the opportunity that next season may present or just try loan players in etc etc . I still think come the 09/08 we will be happy with who has come in and more importantly who has gone out . I still trust Brands / Silva and Brands staff to have done there research . Let’s try keep fume just bubbling at minute ..
People say lots of things that are untrue on the internet...The reality is if they ever bothered to read the FA's rules on loan permits they would find there is little difference between that and a purchase.

Remember, and its amazing how quickly people forget, 4 of our signings were on deadline day last year. The 5th was on August 1st. Zouma, Gomes, Bernard, and Mina were deadline day, and Digne was August 1st. I suspect thats because Brands knows in order to get great players at good prices you have to take things down to the wire and trust your work.

....many thanks to @Kinky Koeman for providing yesterday’s update. I’m on holiday and a few hours ahead of the U.K. so hopefully you can read this with you Eggs for Breakfast. By my reckoning, there’s 4 weeks of this window to go, here’s what’s being said this Thursday 11th July morning;

- The Telegraph report Liverpool face unlikely competition from Everton in the race to sign Lille forward, Nicolas Pepe. It is thought the Toffees would need to pay £58.5m for the 24 year old Ivory Coast international.

- FootMercato say Everton only want a loan deal for Barcelona forward, Malcom, and talks are ongoing for the Brazilian. The BBC suggest Arsenal are keen on the 22 year old, and that Everton have lodged a £31.5m bid. The Liverpool Echo, however, thinks Everton interest in Malcom is ‘wide of the mark’.

- FootMercato also reckon Everton are only interested in a loan deal for Juventus striker, Moise Kean. The Guardian’s Andy Hunter suggests Kean is a Toffees target but no official bid has been made for the 19 year old.

- The Star say Aston Villa face competition from Watford and Everton for winger, Mahmoud Trezeguet. The Egyptian international will be allowed to leave Turkish club, Kasimpasa, for £10m.

- According to The Daily Mail, new Derby boss Phillip Cocu wants to use his excellent relationship with Marcel Brands to help force a move for 21 year old midfielder, Kieran Dowell.

- The Daily Star report Everton have accepted that Frank Lampard needs a close look at Kurt Zouma before deciding if he can move to The Toffees.

- The Liverpool Echo say Everton are in new contract talks with goalkeeper, Joao Virginia, ahead of sending the 19 year old out on loan.

- The Metro suggest Manchester City have issued a ‘hands off’ warning to Everton regarding their interest in midfielder Fabian Delph.

- Lalaziosiamonoi reckon Everton face stiff competition from Lazio and Crystal Palace for 27 year old Lille defender, Adama Soumaoro.

- FootballInsider report Everton are ready to sell 28 year old midfielder James McCarthy if their £10m valuation is met.

- Trabzonspor links with Matthew Pennington and Ademola Lookman to RB Leipzig rumours continue, whilst The Mail suggests Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa is ready to ‘talk to Everton’.

Think you'r mixing things up a little. Only Gomes and Zouma were deadline day signings. Richarlison was July 24, Bernard August 1 and Digne August 9. Still your point stands, we're not in a position to throw money around without a care in the world.

Top work @Eggs . Have a great holiday mate.

About time we got serious with transfers. First step should be to get Andy Carroll’s agent on the blower and get him signed up. Once that’s done the next call from Farhad should be to Javier Hernandez. Then that ginger centre half they jibbed off last season. You wanna be like West Ham you gotta work like West Ham.
Farhad and Bill need to open a sex shop next door to Everton 2 and get a new line of Sport Pesa anal butt plugs and Everton nipple clamps.
Think big Everton ffs...think West Ham.

Don't forget rent a second hand athletics course to play in and put out vague stories in the papers every few months about planning to increase the capacity to 70,000. That's true ambition right there.

Least we're being linked with decent players.
