Computer games.

Removing the CMOS battery is the crude way to set the bios to default. Their hope is that the bios is simply not recognizing the video hardware and so is stuck. It has nothing to do with overall power. In fact you have to remove the battery and then let the laptop drain before you even attempt to remove the cmos battery

By the way if you contact their support and they advise you to do this it does not void your warranty.

Now If it is the actual battery they want him to remove to let drain then yes i agree 100% with you they are pulling his leg. Their hope in this case is that their is some charge making one of the components stick. By removing the battery then holding down the switch it will drain. But as he said himself he heard the fan and HDD spin so this is actually a waste of time.

But yes i get your overall statement and agree with you he shouldn't have to jump through hoops to get it working and should send it back especially if its in the first 15 or 30 days (depending on their return policy)
100 %, tbh I've never owned a lappy but I presumed the cmos would be behind a few warranty screws..hell most things are these days. As you said though, If it was advised by the "pc medic" guy, Heck ..he SHOULD be covered.
I would still sod em and return the thing, It just ain't worth messing with a fixed.. sealed system, especially one still in warranty.

Yeah defo when i worked in tech support many moons ago we would never expect someone to do that especially not in the first few days off ownership.

And yep on most laptops you have to dismantle quite a lot to get at that battery so it's easier to return it.

I had a friend who tried to open his laptop and it involved removing the screen and he broke one of the clips that holds it in place. Told him he should have just come to me haha! Someone had told him to check for dust as they obviously can build up dust over the years.

Anyone into thier Fifa? I gave up on it good few years ago cause it was the same game for the passed 25 years to me, couldn't take it anymore. I've been looking at the new ones from the outside and see the money racket with buying players for actual money. What's that about? Dono how they get away with it. One a year is bad enough to be doing that.

I play it just for Online Seasons. I don't bother with that FUT scamming nonsense

So....basically, they are saying in a round about way
"Turn it off, wait a few, turn it back on"
Tbh mate, that's pretty great advise...but whilst your waiting for it to turn back on....grab a box and put your laptop in it and send it back. If your having to remove the cmos battery on a lappy.. .that's a deffo warranty job as I'm sure removing the cmos will mean opening up the lappy voiding the warranty in the process. If when turning on your lappy and repeatedly pressing Delete, F12, F2...or whatever the bios entering steps are...if you cant even get into the bios...it is a deffo hardware issue and the suppliers know it !!
Called them up again today and there was no messing about from them to be fair and they emailed me currier labels to get it returned without any fuss

Well, I wouldnt even touch lappy's ..far too delicate for my sausage fingers so fair play mate. Sounds like it's been sorted by return now ...which is nice

I’m getting a bit better at GT Sport now. Got up to C in driver rating and B in sportsmanship rating. The races are so much cleaner with genuine racing and hardly any idiots at this level. I’ve managed to finish 2nd about 5 times now.

Soon.

Still playing Crusader Kings 2. Might start a new game, rename the character Duke Kenwright and build an Everton themed dynasty.

What'll happen though is I spend years seeing my plots fail, having no money, not building anything and bringing sticks to swordfights all while surrounding myself with useless courtiers. Then I'll get vassalized by some Persian King.

Anybody playing Teamfight Tactics?

Its honestly melting my head, managed to finish 6th once so far, other than that im getting smashed.

Yep. I think I've played 20 games, won 2 and finished top 4 about half the time.

Items on right champ > team comps > level of each champ is the key thing mein frandelino
