He's one for two as far as I'm concerned: good on Gomes; appalling (and hypocritical given what he said re age) on Baines.
oh come off it dave it makes perfect sense for Baines to stay 1 more year, He'll be gone next season 100%
we don't need to use funds to buy a back up LB when other positions are more important /Robinson doesn't need to waste away on the bench covering for Digne

Baines isn’t a signing as such. Hopefully Digne will be our left back for years to come. There is no harm having Baines as back up. I really like Digne, I just hope he puts all his focus into buying an equally good right back to compliment the other full back role.

A Digne injury leaves Everton knackered for a season. Loans these days mean you cant recall.

Let's see how Mr Brands decision looks after any lengthy time out for Digne. Not too good I'd suggest.

Because you can now look into the future and know he's going to get a lengthy injury?

Negative opinion for Dave? Yes thanks il sign for that

Marcel has achieved an excellent ‘try before you buy’ with Gomes.
Although Baines is not perfect as a backup LB, if you add Robinson or other younger player as an alternative option I think we’re covered for LB this season.
(Just need to ditch Garbutt now)

Any team would suffer if thy lost their top players for any length of time. If the RS lost VVD, we will see the effect Hazard leaving Chelsea will have on them. Only city with their top squad could afford to lose their most influential playmaker (de Bruyne) for the majority of the season and still not feel the effects. Baines definitely isn’t the Baines of yesteryear, but is more then adequate cover for Digne.

Only 1 player short of last seasons 1st team now so if he can sign 2-3 players matching the level of quality that he bought last season and add maybe a couple of loans then we should be in a very healthy position for the future.
