ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

Think we all need to spend today to worship all the RS who signed up here months ago to gloat at us once they won the league, only to end up with egg on their face.

Special mention to the brace, who jumped the gun massively thinking they'd do the double, only to look like a petty four year old and blow it all on a trophy that most of us aren't even bothered about ha

Well, it's done now. They've been knocking on the door for the last few years and it was bound to happen. As much as it pains me to say it, congrats to them.
Some real flutes support them but there are plenty of genuine fans that I'm happy for.

They’ve just won the biggest prize in club football for the 6th time and we pray every season just to win a ‘kin derby against them!! Seriously our mentality has to change, their failure is becoming our only happiness...it’s embarrassing!!

Is correct - the more the focus from fans is on Everton and Everton only, the better. This thread is a complete embarrassment at times.

Let them have their day in the sunshine, they just won the Champions League to be fair.

I've said well done to my brother and a few of my decent kopite mates.

Just a day to avoid social media, news etc.

Anything we say will just come across as bitter and small time. We dished it out after Kiev and them losing the league, works both ways lads.

All part of being a footy fan. If you give it, you have to be able to take it too.

Total cost to assemble current squads including players out on loan

(not inc agents / wages / signing on fees)

City - £777m
Chelsea - £711m
United - £617m
Liverpool - £546m
Everton - £370m
Arsenal - £332m
Spurs - £303m

And there is a complete s£!t show. Terrible waste of resources. There should even be a league cup trophy to show for that investment. Nothing won for years - time to start getting any prize available and building a winning mentality.

Oh, and Tories are sub-human filth and anyone supporting them needs putting into a rocket and fired into the sun.

Put the money into a riverfront stadium Joe!
Would love it. Imagine he came out with a tweet saying "Due to an unexpected financial windfall for the City of Liverpool, the Council is able to bring forward its plans to help finance the new stadium for Everton FC. In light of this positive news the Council can also confirm new terms have also been negotiated with Everton as well as a more relaxed repayment method."

We always did when they were winning cups on a regular basis. Things started to go downhill when you saw the different reactions by both sets of fans watching a match in the pub. They cannot contain themselves, jumping up and down like total bellends if any other team scores against us whilst Everton fans just say get in or smile.

Hard to disagree with this really. This season has just been horrible - being more arsed about another teams results over your own shouldn't be normal in any capacity.

You nailed it, but how do you shift such an ingrained mentality though? The focus/obsession with them only hinders us, that’s patently obvious. It feeds a negativity around the club, and that is seen at match day with the groans after a misplaced pass or silence when things aren’t going well.

I didn’t watch the CL final. I went for a bike ride through the countryside then saw the result when I got back (game was in injury time). To watch a game in the desperate hope a team will lose is not good for the mind, especially if you get riled up as so many have. It just feeds an unhealthy obsession with a team that isn’t your own, and also hinders the support for your own club as you are consumed with negativity.

That's not right.

I opened a thread on the Everton Forum to argue the point that we need to look at the real culprits of our demise: our board and to demand more. But you are all barking up the wrong tree to berate fans from this club having a go at that embarrassing mess of a fanbase at Liverpool.

It's not a case of either / or: you can demand better from your own club while still being critically hostile to Liverpool.

It's called local rivalry and if you dont recognise that and see that it's a natural occurrence, you really dont understand the nature of football .

Unreal that anyone would start calling down their own fans for acting like football supporters. A thread like this is warranted and always will be while there's still a game of football.

Dave I'm not calling down other blues - I was guilty of it myself this season just as much as anyone else was. What I'm saying is it's not right that we have to hinge our emotions on the fortunes of our bitterest rivals.. but obviously as rivals we can't help but feel that way anyway. It's just been accentuated heavily by the fact that they've had a great season were ours has been, comparitively, a complete non-event. Again.

You're correct that the blame mainly lies with the club. It's up to us to become competitive and start becoming successful again. It's the only way to counter any success that the other lot are bound to start finding now.
