It was a joke, and seeing as he's behind about four or five players and Moyes doesn't fancy him at all, there are similarities with Van der Meyde, who was also a talented footballer.
The problem with Bilyaletdinov is every performance he has is littered by mistakes and lapses in concentration. He doesn't ever seem to be ready or with the pace of the game. You stick him on the left and he suffers from all the problems Osman has on the right, stick him on the right, and quite frankly, he doesn't seem to know what he's supposed to do. That's why I think Moyes doesn't give him a run of games, that, and the lack of pace we have when a Coleman/Anichebe/Donovan style player isn't in the side.
He has the ability to get you a goal, there's no denying that, but he isn't playing upfront, he's a midfielder, a wide player, and we need far more complete performances than he's showing. He shown very little as a creative force, and I don't mean getting assists for his early set pieces, I'm talking about creativity from open play.
