ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

Inobody cares about Messi winning another La Liga, Neymar and his mates with another French league title, I mean nobody even cares that Ronaldo won the scudetto. This year they have all been deemed as failures by their own fans because they never won the holy grail. It's the one trophy in modern day football that cements your legacy.
The difference being every player you mentioned there has won those titles on multiple occasions. The RS don't have a single premier league to celebrate

What's fake about City?

Both City and PSG are as synthetic as they come. Both clubs pumped to the gills full of financial bloat. Nothing natural about either sides domestic success. Could go in to details and pull up multiple articles but I'm having a Tom Tit and it's either read GOT or read NOW about how some girl got finger banged by her mates Grandad and now they are getting married.

Very true, winning the league for them is indeed routine. I'm just more pointing out that the Champions League is viewed as the biggest stage, the one where the elite ply their trade. It's absolutely massive to win it and it's weird seeing it played down because they lost the league. In an ideal world we are all watching Ajax v Barcelona in a couple of weeks but as we know things never seen ideal in football when it comes to us.

City did not form in 2009 mate they have a history of major ups and downs, and I would love to be a fake as them now.

I'm aware they never formed in 2009 mate and I'm aware of their history, I know all about how you should feed the goat and he will score. Remember my lad getting Nicky Summerbee in every single packet of Merlin stickers he opened and being gutted. Still doesn't change the fact that their recent success is well and truly bought. I'm aware that everything in football is about money but I'm also aware that PSG and City are on another level when it comes to bought success. I guess you could throw in Chelsea to that as well. On some level all success is bought just some clubs need to fiddle the books in order to inject some cash lol

Oh ye we did, people calling City because they are loaded would give anything for Everton to be as rich as them

Spot on. But then being a hypocrite is half the fun of loving football.

Bet he sounds like Sean Dyche as well..

Either that or he's tucking his cock in to the top of his sock.

I think the issue is that I'm probably not quite clear enough in what I mean. Of course they don't have the skinhead far right caricature of what is far right. However I always remember a passage saying that if fascism comes to America it will be wearing a stars and stripes banner. What's more important when evaluating these things is not the specific cliched look of a Nazi but rather the wider base of it.

Sections of their support (and it's important we say this, it is not all) share all of the same entitlement and weirdness that characterises most far right movements. You see it now with the "alt right" essentially a bunch of losers into conspiracy theories. That's basically their online fan base all over. They have deluded themselves into thinking that the FA is a corrupt organisation that goes out of it's way to frame innocent white people found guilty of racially abusing black people. It's nuts. It wouldn't be out of place on an Alex Jones Podcast. And it's not a tiny minority either, it's large sections who believe that. That culture is allowed to thrive because (as far as I know) Liverpool have yet to offer a formal apology to Evra. As a club they distorted the issues at hand too, to allow for such conspiracies to come forward. Their manager out and out lied in front of millions of people saying Suarez shook Evra's hand. Most of their supporters still believe that too.

Now when you consider these actions, ask yourself is it so different to how say a Nigel Farage behaves? Claiming things that are untrue are true to hype up wider conspiracies.

As for the the song laughing about domestic violence, 100 women a year are murdered because of that. The song is disgusting and needs to be stopped. Again though, there will be little acknowledgement as to why it's wrong.
When I got angry with a bloke on Facebook for making a DV joke, he claimed it was just Scouse humour and his mates backed him up.

I'm not going to post what the bloke out of Space said again because it has bad words, but the fact he still thinks Evra is a 's***-stirring [censored] with a history of shithousery' after all this time is depressing. They're generally a left-wing band, and yet one of them refuses to believe a player from his favourite team is racist, because it was against someone he didn't like. I swear, if Kevin Mirallas had called Daniel Sturridge a negrito, I'd never have made excuses for it. I didn't make excuses for Pickford's vile behaviour off the pitch.

Not for me.

I remember the dread hanging over us this time last year for fear of them winning it .....and they were playing yer actual Real Madrid back then.

With Ronaldo in the team.

But I personally feel none of that forboding now.

Why?

Because a) we have escaped the by some distance lesser of two evils and b) they would gladly give up the chance to win the CL if they had the EPL in the trophy room.

Even they best Spurs, by no means guaranteed, it will be a six day wonder.

They missed out on the Holy Grail and it is killing the buggers

The lesser of two evils is very much the point with this one. Even they are disappointed with it, and referred to it a the consolation prize. In many ways it's a lovely position to be in for them, but the big disappointment has gone. I'll write something more substantive over the forthcoming days but that was a massive chance for them and they will be lucky to finish with so many points again for a while. I also think Klopp goes at some point and that will spark a major rebuild.
