Brighton sack hughton?

I'm sure some will knock Brighton for it but to me it just proved they have a bit of ambition. Apparently they're supposed to just be happy to stay up and ignore their awful form and horrendous results like losing 5-0 at home to Bournemouth.

Let's have it right, they stayed up in spite of themselves. They might not get lucky next year and have three even worse teams below them again. Sure this decision could backfire on them but I'm not going to knock a club for actually having ambitions to be more then what they currently are. If a club like Watford can reach an FA Cup final, get a safe mid-table finish and play some decent togger in the process then why can't Brighton?

Brighton had a safe mid table finish last season and reached the FA Cup semi final this year where they were knocked out by the best team this country had ever seen.

They finished 17th this season and have played awful football all season for the entire time, it's not been a fun experience for their fans. They will 100% be in a relegation battle next season with Hughton there, they might be anyway but it's a guarrante they will with him in charge.

As I said, there's a very good chance that this decision will backfire on them but I'm not going to knock them for having ambition the way pundits and rival fans do to us when we talk about competing with the top four.

I can understand your point at the end there. But I think we want to challenge the top 6 as a club and that's what our target is with minimum expectation something like where we finished this season. Whereas surely the best Brighton can hope for with their budget is a little higher in the league but surely they have to be delighted to just stay up. I mean I would have them as one of the 5 worst teams in the division and to fight off Cardiff who gave everything shows how well Hughton did.

There's having ambition and there's being realistic. I think it's realistic with our money and the size of our club to break into the top 6. I don't think it's realistic for Brighton to consistently be near the top 10. I remember when moyes had us finish 17th and ended the season torridly getting thrashed by an average city team at the end of 2004. Next season he finished top 4. I just don't think Hughton should have been sacked at all, I would have said keeping them up was a great job

They've been awful this season and show no signs of moving forward.

Right decision imo. He's took them as far as he could, nothing wrong in wanting to better themselves.

If it goes wrong and they go down then so what. It's Brighton.

Houghton is a very negative manager and hit's a glass ceiling when in the premier league.

It's the type of sacking that could easily backfire but they were dire this season. He really showed his limitations as a manager.

If they invest and appoint the right man there's no reason why they can't do better next time around. It's not Curbishley with Charlton.
