We didn't deserve any European football after this season. You don't have a 3 month drop on form and still be rewarded.

Which is all fine as we still finished in our average position for the season if we secure 8th.

Not really a marker for Silva, next season we need to be challenging 6th not 7th as a bare minimum

Obviously depending on the summer, but my expectations will definitely be higher next season. 7th minimum is fair (unless we don’t spend etc).

The question is why did Silva sack Watford off for Everton?

The answer is Everton can offer him a higher glass ceiling to achieve in his job and a big part of that is because he can spend more money here than he could at Watford.

Same way if Man City come in for him he'll be off at the drop of a hat.

But the reality is for anyone who lives in the real world is that Silva is given a bigger chance to succeed at here than Watford HOWEVER with that comes bigger expectation and demands at Everton than Watford.

8-10th every season under Watford on a £40 million a season transfer budget is fine.

8-10th every season under Everton on a £80-100 million budget at Everton isnt.

Unless the owner is barking mad/got an unlimited bank account - at some point he'll want his bang for his buck - thats life regardless of if you love the manager or hate him.

Btw everyone saying 7th is a must, that's an outside chance of Europe , relying on the teams at the top to win everything

That's not ambition

It's not so much about ambition, it is just showing progress. Another season of no trophies or even finishing the best of the rest is something that cannot be allowed.

We are losing our window to consolidate.

Good to see we have someone ready to step into the manager's position at a moment's notice if Silva doesn't impress next year...
