He might well have us finishing 9th or even 10th. But he had a job this season to make do and mend with another manager's squad by and large and to set a style of football in play that we can build on. The fact we see a lowering of the average starting line up is also a massive positive.

It;s been a good season from that perspective and it will do for me as a base to move off from.

As said on another thread: it's up to Brands now to give him the tools to get the job done here.

If we can slim the squad and find the money needed to bring in the next players and or keep ones recently enlisted. Lets hope so and move forward.

It's not been as much as that, and net spend was around £60M
Not interested in net spend I'm saying the amount he has spent which varies from 88m to 100m depending on what you read, which is a good amount plus the decent players we all ready had here such as 45m siggy 20m Walcott etc that's a good basis to be doing much more than we have.

Exactly: trim (bank the fee) and find other money to continue the re-build.

The ball's in Brands' court now. IMO we have a manager who has proven he can do a job here. If he gets any sort of decent backing he can get us somewhere.

Some of our players have just been absolute divvy's this season, It's hard to put all the blame on Silva tbh, Can we really say zonal is bad or are our players just too thick to make it work? We've had some absolute crazy mistakes this season that are freak accidents are just some things you don't see every season.
Pickford should never do the Liverpool thing again.
Coleman shouldn't score an OG after it hits the post and them hits him on the back and goes in (Watford)
Keane hopefully doesn't miskick it and let Vardy go clean through.
Newcastle offside goal, Jags wrongfully sent off etc.
I don't wanna divert all the blame on Silva because through Christmas we were an absolute disgrace but you hope these thing won't happen next year which wouldn't be so costly in games.

Your right,

For me he has to get either 7th next season or 8th/9th with a cup win.
what??? a cup win? Like I'm all for ambition but this is just ridiculous, It would be his 2nd season and you're demanding a cup win while finishing 8/9th to keep his job in your view.
This club is an absolute mess mate, We haven't had a proper striker for two years with aboud 38 players on the books while we also need to improve the squad with signings, I'm not giving Silva a pass to just finish low in the table but come on lad.

Considering Wolves will be tanked from the Europa League early rounds and we'll be spending a likely £100 million or so this window to go with the £86 million spent last summer, there is no excuse for Silva not to get 7th which is the minimum this club should be demanding 2 seasons into a managers reign with his own starting 11.

If we fall short of that then only a cup win should save him in my eyes.

Only a cup win should save him yet we haven’t won anything in over 20 years.

Which is why it would save him.

He in my eyes has no excuses for not getting 7th next season, we have been awful for 4 months yet are only 4 points off a side who's had a good season according to all the pundits.

He literally will have no excuse especially if Moshiri loosens the purse strings.

I think you're demanding too much in a short amount of time imo, I don't wanna mention him but the clown across the road has been there for four years and not won a thing but he's built a squad up who is challenging for the League and going into CL finals, Yet you want a trophy in Silva's second season? Sorry mate you are either thin on patience or just not a fan of the Silva/Brands project.

Im not demanding a trophy mate - to win a trophy would be absolutely massive and would guarantee any managers job at this club.

My point is 2 seasons in 7th has to be the aim, most on here have said this year is a transition one and he has to show we were right to write off this season and give him a free pass.

He's only got a 3 year deal so if he finishes 10th this and next season do you really think Moshiri will be happy with a likely near £200 million spent in those 2 years?

Well this has been considered a terrible season by most which is true and we're only 4 points off 7th so it's not all doom and gloom, Baby steps to giant strides ;)

Thats my point, we have been poor yet only 4 points off 7th - if we spend £80+ million this summer, bring in a striker, have Gomes and Bernard more adjusted to PL football and Silva has his own near starting 11 - he has absolutely no excuses not to get 7th and anything less bar a shock cup win should see him gone and not given that final year to see out.

As long as no other team in the league improves, then 7th is the least we should expect.

Wolves for example have the best midfield in the league, possibly Europe.
