If someone would have said to me 2 years ago that the likes of Wolves and Watford would be flying ahead of us, West Ham and Newcastle managed by big trophy winners, clubs like Southampton managed by a highly rated foreign coach whilst we are sat 11th in the table, over £250 million spent and managed by a Portuguese Mike Walker I would have said you were crazy.

Just what is going on with this club man

Serious question here, would you rather we were West Ham, Newcastle or Southampton??????

I get the Wolves praise, but I also have doubts they can maintain it.

All the other teams you mentioned are below us in the table, well West Ham will be on Sunday.

I honestly think all of them will be above us next season. Our form since about November has us below them and I think given the money (Benitez) and the time/own players (Hassenhuttl) will both move ahead of us.

Not a big Pellegrini fan in all honesty however I still fancy them to finish above us, Wolves imo will go from strength to strength should they get EL for Mendes to attract more of his slightly better clientele to move there for European footie.

Moshiri has a massive call to make this summer when we hit a crossroad, does he either

A. Stick by Silva and hope he gets things right next season - the downside to that is if things dont massively improve we'll be managerless and near the bottom 3 come Oct/Nov ala de ja vu from last season

Or

B. He peddles Silva and goes all out for a highly rated manager or one who's won shiny things and gives them the money to make a go of it.

Following the Chelsea result I think its currently 70/30 in Silva's favour that he'll keep his job, unless West Ham win saturday in which question marks about consistently are then raised however I think it'll take a poor run of form to see him gone sadly as Mosh has a hardie on for him.

But we no longer have the money to attract a top class manager and even when we did, we couldnt attract them.

You need a sense of reality, your in here saying Southampton, thats Southampton, a team 2 points off relegation will finish above us next season, how can you honestly expect people to take your seriously I dont know.

Or, the combo of Silva and Brands clean up more of the mess they inherited, and do well.

Win win in my book. Everton do well, and you shut up.

I hope your right mate, 4 out of our last 5 seasons have worn me down - I honestly dont know how fans still put up with the BS the club peddles.

My concern is Silva's record with 3 clubs in England is poor and I highly doubt a bottom half finish will be enough to attract the likes of Werner, Lozano, Koulibaly and NDombele to sign up and paper over the cracks.

Folk watch and rate footie in different ways I guess. Some seem to fume and demand this and that if we finish a place or 2 lower than a previous season, some maybe take a slightly more long term view, and see what is in place, and trust the seasons you allude to are firmly in the past.

Put it this way, I feel far more comfortable with Brands and Silva than I ever did with anything for 5 years or so,

The one club Silva stayed out beyond a year (Estoril) things got progressively better in his 2nd and third season, as they tend to with managers. I do wonder if part of him regrets moving on from Watford when he was building something there. The other part of me thinks he must have been promised stuff here, and thus far has been pretty well backed both with players in but also with support. They could have pulled the trigger post Millwall but didn't. Could have after Watford or Wolves as well. No real signs of it.

I think money will be made available, but it's on the proviso that it's not signings for the sake of it and it's players who are young and will gain value. Maybe we get more over the line. The Ndombele/Werner/Felix shouts are now very unlikely to happen. Who's to say though, that the next Ndombele etc we are not working on but we get in at the opportune moment not the year after he has a big breakthrough? (A bit like Richarlinson is looking). Mina may well prove to be this with a run next season. We are more likely to get them in if we are patient and show stability (which we are starting to do).

I sense the Millwall to Watford may prove to be rock bottom, not just for Silva but also for the Moshiri. I think a young manager will learn from this season and put into practice some of the lessons. We will not be competing for the title, but I imagine we will continue to improve.

Silva is a clueless buffoon, but hes our clueless buffoon.

Brands is the important fella, if he can shift some utter tosh, buy some ballers, Clueless Marco might be able to get a tune out of them.

If they stay up.

The problem is long term thinking is very subjective, clubs like Villa and Sunderland I imagine never planned on getting relegated however poor season after poor season eventually caught up on them.

I felt we were slowly edging towards the abyss with Martinez and Kenwright then Moshiri bought the club, appointed Koeman and we finished 7th with Rom on the verge of signing a new deal amd things were looking great - since then its gone horribly wrong with poor decision after poor decision from the owner.

I get why fans/Moshiri might want Silva to get a 2nd season and get the books sorted however he's a massive gamble and whilst he could improve we could be back to square one come November with no manager and no one other than a Moyes/BSA type firefighter available to come in.

What the hell does that have to do with anything? You’d rather be in Southampton’s position in genuine danger of relegation, or Newcastle without a pot to piss in and suffering 2 relegations in a decade? Grow up.

My point is Clubs not as big or financially attractive as us have gone out and attracted higher calibre/rated managers than us who have gambled on a novice.
