You give yourself no chance of ever putting consistent wins together if your opponent only needs a corner or a 35 yard free kick to score a goal. It's just unfathomable how this sequence has continued for so long, it's almost like he's trying to get himself sacked. God only knows what they're doing in training.

He won't survive this season unless he sorts out this Achilles Heel. The board will absolutely not keep him if he can't even organise a defence to defend a corner. He needs to do something quickly, shaking up his coaching staff, abandoning his own methods...anything. He's digging his own managerial grave at the moment.

Im just saying, I was quite surprised really, you know when people put their heads down and try and looks sad for the cameras? Well he punched the air in a fit of rage, was quite a shock.

He should have bollocked the entire defence in front of street end, he may have got some respect from the crowd. Unless he did in the changing rooms, I’d respect Gylfi a bit more if I know he called everyone out to their face including Mike Walker v1.01

I play CB (only amatuer county level, nothing special). When opposition gets a corner/free kick, the first thing you do is locate the man you have been assigned to mark. And like you say, get to the ball first/stop him getting there. When that ball is delievered I will attack that ball and get my head/foot on it wherever possible.

The point im making is that Everton defenders seem to have no desire to meet the ball, head it, or even stop opposition players running towards it. Surely that is not what they are being coached. Thats a basic hunger and responsibility!

That’s called man marking mate - we don’t do that.

going on marcos stats in the prmeir league, it looks like no mater who has to work with the defefence will be conceding around 26 goals per season just from set pieces.

I think this will increase as teams will be targeting us at every opportunity they get.

so we are essentially starting each season with a minus 26 goal difference.

with us not currently employing a striker im not sure where he expects to make these goals up.

we aren't going to have any money for two years , unless we sell our best players, which in itself doent make any sense, so we wont be buying any striker worth buying. 50m plus for decent one.

so if Everton persist with silva and his set play philosophy, I fully expect us to be relegated next season. its not even in question. its just inevitable, going on the stats that are there for all to see.

He also works his butt off every game. To me, the Spurs game showed his true face. Just trying to will us back into the game. But yes, we need more of that.

best players?

Yet they’re not attacking the ball when it reaches their ‘zone’, hence the problems. It’s not zonal marking that is the issue, rather it’s how we’re not doing it.

Yeh I was just replying to the centre-half saying he picks up his assigned man whereas we don’t have assigned men so to speak.
