The academy of the day - the A and B teams, show only 3 (Rankin, Harvey and Wright) who would come through as 1st teamers, with Tommy Wright up front, yet to be converted to a defender, iirc, Hibbo started up front too.
I would hazard a guess that 3 out of 22 was a good return if looked at over a few seasons.
The late 50s and then the 60s youth gave value for money.

Yes , and we were called the millionaires club yet the side that won the league in 1969 there were a fair few youngsters in it .....
