I find this whole zonal concept hilarious. Pep uses zonal marking. One of its biggest proponents. Klopp the same. It has NOTHING to do with Zonal marking.

It's having the players to incorporate it.

Keane switches off. Zouma is okay. Mina probably more suited as he attacks the ball. Digne and Coleman aren't good in the air. We don't have tall midfielders. We're lacking height and aggression.

Additionally they're not good at 2nd balls as a team.

Absolute shambles we play a set piece team and are an utter disaster at freekicks. So easy to score against, lack of will to defend the crosses, last to any second balls, no leader, disgrace. Watching this club is just like torture at times.

Silva and the players must see we are shocking on set pieces....so why so many stupid fouls which lets them make crosses into the box. Its basic stuff...Stop The Stupid Fouls....I honestly believe our team has the combined brain power of a potato

This was evident come the end of August. So I wish people would stop going on as if the result at Anfield is the cause of our problems!

For me the reason silva lacks the credentials to manage at top level.
Goes something like this Everton mark zonally, which means same players stand in there respective zones at each set piece.
As an opposing manager therefore I know that Digne lacking height is in front post zone.
Simple send our Hightower into that zone and we have an equaliser and repeat !!!!!

Just look at Yerry Mina.

At no point is he settled.

He's marking space originally. Cross comes in to the man who isn't in a 'zone' to be marked, he attempts to challenge the man when he was always now going to be hamstrung - look at where our centre half ends up when their player heads the ball in.

It's astonishingly bad from Everton's coaching.

Instead of scoring he even could have headed back square and there's 2 Millwall players waiting to slot home, just like the third.

Space can't score.
Players can.

It really is that simple in our case.

Not to mention the confidence you give the opposition when they have space as well.

Silva/Brands opted to sign Mina for £27m.

You'd think then he'd be *right* for the system they want to play.

Watch Millwall's first goal. Gregory is celebrating his header while Yerry Mina is outside the 18 yard box;

Staggering. What's Mina doing there?

They've signed a complete dud/moron or his instruction has let him down.

Highlights below. It's a horror show.

At this point, Brands is as culpable as Silva.

Defending a a piece of Uris acid mate, big feller marks big feller, little feller marks little feller, quick marks quick etc. Study your opponent, then tell your own lads which of the opposition is theirs to mark. Now that may not be sexy, or fifa or any of the modern cobblers getting bandied about, but mark this, every single trophy we have ever won in our history has been won using that system. Spot the pattern? Sort yourself out Marco, you sweaty melt!
