That is all great in theory.

However his hands are very tied right now. And if he can’t get a tune out of these players, and is making the same mistakes over and over, how can he possibly see out 3 years?

That and he’s not a very good manager. As the past has proven.

Not sure what to tell you, I’d disagree with all of that really. It’s all opinion after all.

I do beleive as a fan base, we have become very knee jerk and a bit snowflakey.

High on change, turnover and immediacy.

We as a fan base are part of the problem.

Patience is in short supply, but exactly what is required.

Which is fine.

But you’d surely agree a manager is defined by results and football is a results business? Therefore he’s not doing very well right now with no sign of it getting better at all?

Then add to the fact you know what the fans get like when things are going backwards. Three years?! Unlikely.

In all honestly the man needs three years, many problems at the club the manager isn’t one.

The worst thing that could happen to the club would to change manager (again).

I’d go full revolt on the current regime.

I haven’t done that since the 90s.

I would gladly give him 3 years and im very aware of the issues we currently have, but hes really gotta earn 3 years.

3 points off 7th, not the holy grail and im not saying we HAVE to finish 7th, but hes gotta give us something to cling to, we had lots pre December, but not a great deal since then, abject defeat after abject defeat seems to be the order of the day.

Im not even saying sack him currently, I was willing to give him this whole season and then take a look at Xmas, but its just utterly horrific atm.

I don’t think it’s as binary as you present.

Ultimately yes. But I don’t beleive you can have those discussions until 18 months into a regime, that’s my personal opinion. But then look at someone like Eddie Howe building a football club, ultimately his work isn’t about results.

As I said above I think fans are part of the problem, I don’t think the tail should wag the dog.

I think it’s a three year job top to bottom at Everton, not just Silva, but the new board Brands etc.

I wouldnt disagree with any of that. I think he has hard work to do in the short term and personally I think performances need to get back to what they were pre derby this season.

It’s a hard period for sure.

To illustrate the points I am making, remember we got Moyes, we barley stayed up in his first half a season, had an excellent second season, had a dire third season, champions league in his fourth. It takes time to make progress with what you have, take a step back to develop and build a team and bed in and then it forward game. Moyes inherited other managers messes, nearly got us relegated trying to change it and build, but proved he was right when he was able to put his stamp on his own players, in his own way within his own philosophey.

My point being what Everton need now is to commit, even in the face of adversity.

Whether it’s right or wrong it’s impossible to say he gets 3 years right now.
You wouldn’t want 3 years of this, so what gives you the confidence that he can turn this around?

I have essentially zero confidence that he can. There is no evidence anywhere to say he can.

For the record, in an idea world I don’t want him sacked, as much as I don’t rate him I absolutely despise all the manager merry go round madness. But if he can’t do the job he can’t do the job.

What I find even more scary is that apparently the players like working for him. But then perform like this. Terrifying.

As someone who wants Silva to be a success I am all for being patient, but this run of defeats can't be allowed to continue.

He has 2 games to save his job IMO. Win both and we are back on track. Lose both and he's almost gone.

That's the harsh reality of PL football in 2019.

I think it’s the worst thing that could probably happen, but I also know that’s possible, I wouldn’t agree with it.In fact I would be very vocal in oppositition and go a bit rouge with this regime, not that that matters. It’s rinse and repeat.

Personally I don’t beleive that will be the case, but I don’t make those decisions.

Don't know why people think he should be given so much time.

He's literally shown nothing of encouragement.

Think some of it might be a bit of Evertonian on Evertonian hate which I have got on to quite a bit lately. You have the fans who say some are too demanding and short termist, and you have the fans who have seen enough of this dross and want to see a side not concede six goals in a home game. I am with these fans.
