Good point. Even the top teams only have 1 serious back up. I think the focus has to be on a rock solid and as high a quality starting IX as possible. Quality in the wider squad can come after. Following on from the Koeman/Walsh spending spree it looked like we had a good squad and we’ve been left with a lot of crap. Massive summer coming up and a potential 10-15 needing moved on. It may be best to go with what we have.

THere is absolutely no point in buying a player who will become back up in the summer
We have back up players coming out of our arses
We need nailed on first team starters and those that are starting become back up.
If we can’t buy someone now who will be a definite starter for the next 2 seasons then don’t buy anyone
As it is in the next 2 /3 windows for our starting 11 we need to buy
Zouma / other CB
Gomes / similar or better quality
Box to box midfielder
Right full ( if you’re under 30 look it up )
Right winger
Centre forward
That’s 6 players we need to pay serious money for at least
That’s without upgrading on Gana if the opportunity arises
We can’t be spending money on short term fixes that cripple our wage bill and stop us progressing
We have some crap players who will never play a game for us and we will have to run their contracts down before they leave

So far the only link I’m prepared to give any guarded credence to is the Barrios rumour. This makes sense only if the Gana rumour is also legitimate which I remain to be convinced of.
All the rest appear to be a mixture of lazy journalism and ,no doubt ,agents trying to drum up business for their wares and can be safely disregarded pending any substantive evidence.
