It depends on what motivates the player.

I think we may be surprised by our dealings...

Thats exactly right, now is the time teams are desperate and i would like to see us take advantage of this fully.

Walcott, Coleman etc...we could be seeing a surprise sale which if we can do without them for the rest of the season would be beneficial to us looking further than the short term.

But we cant do without Coleman and Walcott for the rest of the season Zat.

Imo we cant even do without SNIDERRAT.

Thats it sadly, its alright Zat saying "sell him, buy them", not having a pop at Zat like, but its really not as easy as we think.

We have really rubbish players that we paid biggish money for, who are on disgusting wages, the wages limit the type of clubs we can sell them to sadly. Only really Premier League clubs can afford these wages and the type of clubs desperate enough to buy dont wanna be stuck with a player earning 80-120k a week if theres a chance they wont be a Premier League team next season.

I mean it seemed like Steve Walshs idea of signing players was to just offer the clubs the money they wanted and agree to the first wage demands every Agent made.

Brands wants to do it differently, he will tell clubs what we want to pay, I mean sure it will mean we miss out on a few targets here and there, but there are plenty of quality players around, so I cant see it being much of an issue.

Definitely, it’s just grim that we gave Walsh time and opportunity to destroy the finances without much criticism as he was signing players. We may not sign players - but at least when we do, they will be well considered and fit in with what we are building. The club is in much better hands with Brands.

What im saying is that if we sold Schneiderlin for example we would have to subsidise his wages for a couple of seasons or give him a pay off to compensate him for the wage drop.

The same goes for a number of other players and i think by the sounds of things we would be willing to do this in order to have the 1 in 1 out moving forward.

Money for us in transfer fees i dont think is an issue, the real issue is wages and to get them off the books we need to be creative.

Its better to move some players on for fees and a pay off / loyalty bonus than keep them on big money sat on the bench or not in the squad.

I dont think thats unrealistic.

Maxi Gomez has a release clause of about €40mil.

Werner isnt extending his 2020 contract and rumoured to be available at €40mil.

Thats just 2 players we we could go for who are light years ahead of Batshuayi....we make a huge number of crosses into the box and both those forwards can head the ball, Gomez especially

I dont think adding money onto fees received is an issue...as we would be saving with wages.
If that’s true that must be a release clause as he really is top class.

He would be ideal for this Silva team but persuading him of that would be tricky.

Lets say we signed the centre forward alot of people demand.

Richarlison bernard and lookman can all play wide...we can get through till summer.

Coleman has been poor...kenny has the spot now...if we sold coleman then we could have to sign a new player or get by with kenny and zouma there...

I think walcott and coleman are now bench options to be honest and sacrificing them to save on wages + generate larger fees now than in summer makes sense.

Apparently hes been touted around. Hes 1.5 years left on his deal and wont extend.

Hes said if he stays in germany theres one obvious option -- hinting bayern.

You never know what motivates these players...he may fancy a stint in the premier league as first choice....who knows.

I think its totally unrealistic to pay somebodies wages while they play for somebody else and I cant see us doing that.

Ive not known us to ever do that? Bar Rooney maybe and of course our managers!

I think from a books POV it benefits us more if we get a small loan fee and a wages %, due to how FFP and STCC works, I think thats what we will do.

Of course we and the club would prefer a sale and we havent had much luck with loans, but even a failed loan every season gets an unused player out "earning" instead of kissing pine.

You can think Walcott and Coleman are bench options, I can bet they both play more than the others you mentioned.

Both need replacing, personally I dont think we yet have replacements in the squad, Lookman is ineffective on the right, we have hardly seen Bernard there or Rico and Kenny is just a poor mans Coleman.

Kenny has done well, but the problems arise when you overplay youngsters. He needs to be eased in to improve. I think my preference would be to strengthen without weakening ourselves - obviously, the only scenario where that wouldn’t be the case is if a ridiculous offer came in for someone.

Well, if we had an offer for schneiderlin of say £15mil but they would only pay him £60k a week for example then it would make sense for us to offer him a cash incentive of say £2.5mil to move. That somewhat bridges the wages gap and gets us £12.5mil overall.

Loans would work also but we would perhaps be seeing an overall loss (not counting for FFP rules or book value) as i mean Bolasie surely isnt getting full salary worth at villa, we must be subsidising it.

Definitely worth asking the question.

I do think for the CF position even if we went for someone like Batshuayi now, in the summer we will be going for someone for a fair bit of cash as a solid long term option.

I think all over the pitch there will be surprises in terms of the names we bring in and the deals we do.

But your expecting Morgan to meet us halfway, your expecting him to take a pay cut, honestly why would he?
