Transfer Rumour Michy Batshuayi

I think he is exactly what we need in a second striker: pacey, decent finisher, and passionate. You hardly see him go missing in matches. Looking at fees we would get a lot more out of him for less than what we paid for Cenk or obviously Niasse.

He goes missing in most matches he plays...

He's a poacher. Yes, he's quick enough, and yes he'd be an improvement on what we have in terms of an out-and-out striker.

But, if we're wanting a striker to play the role in a similar way to Richarlison - but with more of an instinct - I don't think he'd do the all-round leg work like Rich does. His hold up play isn't great, and he doesn't exactly run the channels from what I've seen of him.

What he is, is a decent finisher. That being said, he usually needs three chances to score once, although a lot of that could be down to confidence (as we saw at Dortmund).

If we signed him I'd be happy, because he's better than what we have if he's just in to finish off chances. Not sure he'd add loads more to our play, but it depends what we want.

Did I miss anything...breaking news sky banner showing just now that we are interested in Michy but only on permanent deal...but it can only be a permanent deal...right?
I’ve just seen that but they did this with Malcom in the summer so wouldn’t trust it

I wouldn't really class any of them as being proven to be a level about Batshuayi tbh, they play for a mid table premier league team and with the exception of Digne have all struggled for form at times this season.

I maintain Batshuayi is our level, I think its deluded to think we are at a level above him.

Aye, agree with this, he's definitely our level.

It just depends what we're looking for in the striker. Are we just looking for goals, or are we looking for an all-round player who is going to run the show up top?

Now, as it goes, I highly doubt any of the latter type are going to be available in Jan (although I'm fully with @MarcelsGoat that Haller is a class act, albeit a tad slow). And we definitely are desperate for a goalscorer. So, if he's available (I don't see it being at £14m, like) and we can do a deal it may seem silly not to if the price is right.

At the very least, he would be a fantastic striker to bring off the bench. Certainly an improvement to Cenk and Oumar. If we can pay for Batshuayi with the Cenk/Oumar money I'd be made up.

I think in a good run of form he would trouble most any defense. His good runs of form are certainly easier to come by than that of Tosun/Niasse's.

Yes please, young and a different option, tbh wanted him to replace Lukaku when he left, we need a better more agile goal poacher and will hopefully improve with a run of games, if it's £14m sounds a good deal, spend the Barkley money

Oh absolutely.

I'm definitely not turning my nose up at him. But I'm on record plenty of times on here as not really rating him. But it does depend what we're looking for.

We seem to go from one extreme to the other as a team at the moment. We either struggle to create any decent chances (Leicester, Brighton) or we create plenty and - often - miss them (the derby, Old Trafford, Emirates, and plenty in games that we've won or drawn - without necessarily deserving to turn those draws into wins).

In terms of both kinds of games he'd definitely be a huge help. He is a threat. He just isn't an all-round footballer. So it just depends what we're looking for in that role. However, given the three actual out-and-out strikers we currently have on the books, he'd be a definite improvement I reckon.

We've done that a few times this season, where Digne has floated a lovely ball right across the 6 yard box but theirs nobody there or at least no one taking a gamble and getting in there, happend against Leicester the other week towards the end of the game, I think Batshuyai would be a great fit for us

This. The Lincoln game being a case in point. Time and again Baines and JJK got into positions where they could whip in a first-time cross, only having to cut back as they looked up and saw DCL alone in the box with 8 Lincoln players.
Batshuayi may not be tearing up any trees in La Liga but we desperately need a goal-hogger (hanger, poacher) in there as all immediacy in attack is being lost for the want of someone to sit on the defender's shoulder and make runs. Even Tosun, our out-and-out CF doesn't do this.
Buy and be damned, I say.
