This club is a joke

We demand our team be top 6 because under Moyes we were used to it. Times have changed, the money has changed. We have an illustrious history but so do Nottingham Forest. I really dislike the entitlement our history seems to have given some of our fans.

In many ways the sense of entitlement is what keeps the big clubs winning trophies. Never at any point do the fans of Man United, Liverpool or Arsenal and even Chelsea shrug their shoulders and say top 10 is fine.

They don’t, nor do we, but I think our expectations are a little too high. We haven’t been any good since the 80’s.

You lot are far too impatient. It's going to take longer than a few months to get anywhere in this league.

We have the beginnings of something special. Pickford, Keane, Gueye, Bernard and Richarlison are top six-level players, unquestionably. For me, you can add Gylfi and Digne to that list but I accept not everyone will agree. Walcott, Lookman and Mina have the ability to reach that level too. That's ten players that, even if they aren't top six quality, can do a job as we add more. Imagine a proper goalscorer and a solid right back in there?

Silva I'm not 100% sure about, but the style of football he wants to play is the style we all want to see after that fat idiot's six month tenure of terror. Give him another summer, give Brands another summer and see what we have. I'd be amazed if we didn't fix our weaknesses and push on next season.

And push on means challenge for the top six. Not the top four. If we get there, great, but it shouldn't be the minimum expectation for 19/20. Klopp and Pochettino have years on Silva, the Manc clubs have money, as do Chelsea (probably). Arsenal are the weak link and the one we can overtake. They don't have as much money as the rest and on paper have a weaker first 11 (IMO). Once we're in, we establish ourselves and push again.
Keane? Please tell me that was a typo.

I can't say I'm happy with the way things are either but remember back to the season we beat Man City 4-0 and the inconsistent way that they played that season in Guardiola's 1st season. I'm not saying we have the same quality as they had but like us they had a new manager who was instilling a new playing style. Think, now with hindsight, what a bad mistake sacking him would have been because the 'transitional' season was poor.
Everton have been in desperate need of fixing since the start of last season, a season where the players had 3 different playing styles drilled into them.Who really thought we would honestly hit the ground running under Silva after last seasons shambles. Give Silva the next 2 transfer windows and next season we will see the beginning of the Everton revolution really kick off.

My expectations with this current squad would be to the best of the rest but I'd settle for top 10 given it is the manager's first season. I don't think that is too far out of line with everyone else.

Given our history and standing in the game I don't think that is anyone near good enough but we are where we are. You don't even need to go back to the 80s, the year Moyes left we had a platform to build from which we've managed to rip apart through poor decisions.

It's embarrassing that we are still singing a song "We're the team, we're supreme, number one" when we were supreme 30 odd Years ago. We're a complete farce of a club.

I tell you what, you and I may not have got on well on here to date but you're as diehard an Evertonian as I've seen, fair play. If you're saying this the Club has serious issues connecting to its fanbase.

I just think we came into the money 5 years too late.Everyone has money now. We're basically spending just to keep up with the elite. It's just the way football is now.You have the likes of the big six sides, and we are finding it a struggle to break into that elite. We just badly need a trophy win, to try and establish ourselves as a force again.

Simply not true: you need consistent league performances and European qualification. Spurs winning one league cup isn’t what did it for them. We are now putting in place what we need to challenge these teams over the next three/four years; a sensible football-business person at DOF and an on-pitch identity that is invariant to whoever the manager is.
