I'll hold my hands up in that I would be shocked with a win.

However I'll stick my neck on the line that Marco Silva will acheive nothing at Everton other than 8th+ place finishes, same as Alladyce or any other midtable manager would do.

I predicted the same with Martinez after the first half of his second season and Koeman and I never wanted either of them (as I didnt Silva).

Its just a shame that on Everton social media you have to go through the purgatory of being berated by the masses as pessimistic, a kopite etc until the inevitably happens and suddenly all those posts against you are suddenly likes in agreement. Rinse repeat.
Who did you want then? Who do you think at the time moyes left should have been appointed? I never wanted Martinez in the first place, and was prepared to give Koeman a chance before he fecked up .....fat Sam was a panic move. Got my doubts about Silva also, but this season I am enjoying going to watch the team again..imo this will be a 3-5 year task and I am prepared to give Silva and Brands support. After the mismanagement at board level for the last 30 years, it will not be an overnight transformation.....

And I assume you didnt want BFS neither. Who did?

So name names then. Who would you have had in after Moyes, after Martinez, after Koeman, and after Allardyce?

I understood the Martinez appointment at the time as Kenwright is skint and we realistically had zero chance of appointing anyone half decent (although I knew appointing a bloke who took a solid midtable side into constant relegation battles and eventual relegation was a recipe for disaster).

I personally think Moshiri has the finances to attract a top manager - Koeman was on bigger wages than what PSG were paying Emery.

Emery, Conte, Tuchel, Mancini, Blanc, Nagellsmann, Hassenhuttl would have been my sort of targets but im sure theres many more out there with periods of success in the top leagues not a few decent games at Watford after going down with Hull.

Did we target any of them? I doubt it as the papers would have been all over someone turning us down.

Koeman was our first choice

Tuchel Apparantely said he wasn't interested when we were in a relegation battle under Unsworth (who blamed him) so Alladyce was expected sadly

Silva was our first choice since last year based on about 9 games for Watford and the new DOF Brands didnt get a say.

Our recruitment policy has been a disgrace and its no surprise 3 seasons in to Moshiri's reign we are spending big money but getting no results.

If we are 6th come tomorrow I'll hold my hands up, however it'll likely be at best a draw for us and a Utd win with us being around 9th/10th in the table which is still very poor with the money invested half way into the season.

Some fans may be able to convince the masses Silva has worked miracles Agaisnt the financial powerhouses of Watford and Bournemouth but I aint buying it.

If Alladyce (who is also gash) was manager and had us 11th at present fans would be fuming so lets call a spade a spade here and not be hypocrites.

Nobody is saying Silva has worked miracles. But it's clearly a work in progress.

We're within three points of sixth.

Got a feeling we will get something tomorrow. However lets not look past the facts:

£85 million spent in transfers (60 million or so talent on loan in Gomes and Zouma)

Yet 11th in the table behind clubs not long ago were in the fizzy pop league.

0 wins against the top 6

No wins against Bournemouth, Wolves, Watford and West Ham who are around/above us in the table

Dropped points to gash like Newcastle and Huddersfield

Out the League Cup at the first hurdle

Appoint mid table managers get mid table results. Baffling Moshiri chased Silva as if he was Guardiola and not interviewing any other candidate or let Brands appoint a manager.

I've said it all the time we will acheive nothing under Moshiri as for all his good intentions and money he fails to grasp the basics that without a top manager who has a proven record of achieving in a strong league you will never ever trouble the top 6 or even establish 7th spot.

Yes a terrible record there but really cannot blame Moshi, it is down to Silva, the appointment of whom was welcomed on here and I was one of them. Still think give him to the end of the season but admittedly ATM not looking too clever. Look at the Derby the failing was Pickford to give them the win. Against Man City where were our CBs to stop those headed goals? So methinks you are being a bit harsh in writing him off just yet.

Now about getting a top manager with a proven record - Who? and what makes you think he would come to Everton?

The systems have worked. We haven't put the chances away that we've created.

We've looked - by and large - a lot more solid at the back. Some mistakes have crept in lately and it seems like a confidence thing since the derby.

Honestly, nearly giving up on this place and Twitter. People are just so miserable. How do you get through life?

If - I know it's a huge if - we win tomorrow, we go 7th, potentially 6th.

How is that not looking clever?

We have spent an impressive amount of money under Brands and Silva. There are better players in more than a few positions but we dont look like beating top 6 sides at all really. I can't see us beating spurs even if we have a good game. You can't say it's because we didn't get a proven winning manager. History shows us managers get better and become winners! I don't agree with the transition theory either. It is what it is. We are currently underperforming if you look at the money we have spent. I don't know if we will improve but I'm really hoping this team shows some bite after new year. We seem lightweight and easy to work out at present. I like Silva cos he seems like a cool character. I can't understand a word of what he says at press conferences. Cmon Marco show us something.

Hahahahahaha

Are you like this in real life?

I think we can forget about 6th now, Toff.

I have seen enough of post Jose United in twenty five minutes to know that ship has sailed with EFC, as ever, left on the dock waving goodbye :(

They haven't worked out that the people that decide not to get wound up/depressed throughout the more difficult periods still get to be happy about the good times and that the good times won't make up for time spent fuming about the difficult times.

I did say ATm! by the way dave thinks we get nothing out of Spurs tomorrow.

But it can't be 'not looking too clever' when we're literally within one win of being 7th/6th, that was my point.

Where one team in a cluster of 5-6 who are going for 7th, potentially 6th. That's just where we are as a club at the moment. Hopefully by the end of the season, we've put a gap between us (in a positive sense).

When you're smilin', when you're smilin'
The whole world smiles with you
When you're laughin', oh when you're laughin'
The sun comes shinin' through
But when you're cryin', you bring on the rain
So stop that sighin', be happy again
Keep on smilin', 'cause when you're smilin'
The whole world smiles with you
