..Mina has actually looked comfortable in possession up to yesterday.

I think Silva is looking to be brave at the top away grounds. It almost worked at Stamford Bridge and Anfield. It means having players who trust their own ability to get their foot on the ball and keep possession. It’s why Bernard plays and Lookman doesn’t.

If you launch the ball downfield against the best teams, it’ll invariably come straight back. There’ll be a lot of pain introducing a new style and new players who fit the strategy. Time will tell if it works.
You just had to watch the way united played yesterday, a bit like us last season to see it has a very limited success rate.

Not really.

If we finish 15th it'll have been a poor season - obviously - but I don't think he'd get sacked. And I'd be glad, because we're trying to build something.

I don't see us finishing outside of the top half, but regardless of position this season is about moving forward and it's quite clear we've done that in terms of the level of player we're bringing in and the football we're playing.

mate if we finished 15th what exactly would be trying to build? what a load of nonsense

it's not like he's been given 10mill and been told go and find some good young cheap bargains we want to build this young team and it'll take time, he's literally been backed with big money signings

I think he should be given time as well btw and I like silva, but if he finished 15th with the squad he has available he should be put in the bin

Finishing 7th or 8th and I would bet my house on it if I had one. It's not too bad when you consider the new squad, load of players don't speak English, huge numbers of players still on the books that the manager has no interest in, only one transfer window to work in thus far. The disappointment is that we have huge potential and we see the brave performances we put in against clubs bigger than us, but our lack of firepower costs us greatly.

Lukaku disappeared a long time ago, and it's a disgrace he hasn't been replaced.

Watford have gash strikers who dont score yet they are level on points with us.

Yes he needs the full season however as I've said lets not pretend he has the likes of Martina, Williams, Rooney and Klaassan in the side like last year.

He has Digne, Mina, Zouma, Keane, Pickford, Richarlison, Gylfi, Walcott, Gomes, Gana, Bernard

They would get in every side outside the top 6.

I honestly think our fans are that scared of another Alladyce appointment that they'll latch onto any manager that plays "nice" football.

I think if Martinez turned up wearing a fake tash and sombrero fans would be all over it.
What are you saying then Alladyce would turn this team into contenders?

That's not the point.

It's just more short-term thinking. And we won't be doing that. If you put a manager in the bin after a season that is clearly all about transition then more fool on us. We're just back in the same place to begin with.

Obviously, nobody would be happy if we finished 15th, not that we will. But I'm fed up of having a different manager every season.

Bobby's first season we had 34 points after 17 games.
And if we don't get anything from the Spurs game, it'll be the second lowest points haul (after 18 games) in the past 7 years

It's about context though as well mate.

Our last four away games have been at Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, The Pit and Etihad.

While I can't say we categorically deserved to win any of them, I can say with confidence that the only one I'd say we deserved not to get anything out of was against City, and that's mainly because we shot ourselves in the foot.

Last season we obviously had that bad run at the start against the top teams, but half of those fixtures were at home IIRC. When the big teams roll around to Goodison in March/April, I can't see us rolling over like we did last season. That has to start v Spurs on Sunday.

We'll finish 7th minimum and hopefully have a good cup run. If Silva and Brands can bring in the same type of quality they did in the summer either in Jan or next summer and continue to trim the absolute crap in the squad then we will be on the right track.

6th is definitely up for grabs

Why do you act like it's so easy to replace your record Premier League goalscorer?

Name me a striker that, last season or this season, would have come to Everton and would have GUARANTEED us 25 goals.

It very much is up for grabs. We're right in the mix. West Ham have had a good run but will drop off. Same with Wolves. Same with Watford.

Because those teams just like us have their deficiencies and that means they won't maintain form. We just have to try and maintain form for longer.

If that means that come the end of the season, 6th is still up for grabs, sound.

I get what your saying, but there is no good "building" something with an incapable manager, to clarify fat sam got a far WORSE squad than this 8th, and silva with a lot of spending was to finish 15th that would be appalling.

not the same thing obviously as sam done this by playing anti football, but where not exactly setting the world alight getting unlucky everyweek are we? can see what he is trying to do but just seems the same old everton to me at the moment a lot of huffing and puffing but not enough end product

think he will turn it around and we'll become a good team though

I still sense the same 'Everton that' vulnerability in this team...sadly

Well we created more chances at the Etihad than any other team this season. Same at Anfield. We could have easily won at the Emirates, and we could easily have drawn at Old Trafford.

So no, while we're not setting the world alight, if anybody expected us to be doing so four months into Silva's tenure then more fool them.

It's a long process. I'm not saying he's infallible, or hasn't made mistakes, but it seems we have some fans so ready to turn and it's just boring (not implying you are doing this).
