Messi "best player of all time"

Just look at international level, the midget flops for Argentina and isn't loved by his people meanwhile ronaldo drags a bunch of pub league players to his level and is treated like a god by the Portuguese nation.

Has messi got a statue of his face in an airport ????

It’s becoming clear that Portugal team was far better than people thought at the time. Bernardo Silva, Gomes, Moutinho, Nani, Pepe, are clearly not pub players. They were by no means the best team in the tournament and Ronaldo did carry them but they were hardly a bad side.

As Wales and England have shown in the Euros and World Cup respectively, luck players a major part in any knockout competition, but it's always discounted.

They’re both amazing players in different ways. I don’t know why people want to compare them. They’re both individually relentless in terms of goals, at times they’ve both had different but equally amazing skill sets, they’ve both had unbelievable longevity, when Barca had a great team Messi won CLs and leagues, when Madrid had a great team Ronaldo won more CLs but less leagues. They both lost an international final they probably should have won. Portugal won a final that Ronaldo barely featured in. They’re so similar I don’t know why people want to get a definitive answer. In 2 years or so it will be irrrevant because both may have fallen off a cliff form wise.

There was a comment on a Guardian article today that probably summed it up. You could make an incredibly good case for saying that you could offer any manager in the world the option of Modric, Mbappe, Neymar, Griezman and Ronaldo or Messi, and the manager would choose Messi, despite those players covering the full range of midfield and attacking options. When you've got someone who is the best striker, winger, #10 and central midfielder in the world, that's pretty special.

Absolute twaddle. Ask any of the RS Manson Family Cult and they will list you about 200 footballers who are a million miles better than Messi
