I dont expect to get anything out of this. We are definitely getting better but the RS are way too good at the moment even though it kills me to say it. The last few years derbies have been mostly embarrassing on our part so i will be satisfied if we show no fear, get stuck in, play to win (as we have been doing recently) and give them a proper game. If we do manage to get any points out of it i be absolutely ecstatic.

Deffo, last years ones where weird

the 2 league games we got a draw in both but we were horrific, anfield they battered us all game and 1 long ball by rooney and lovren being lovren be robbed a draw

at goodison we drew and we were shambolic, they literally weren't bothered as they had the semis or whatever a few days later and had people like klavan playing full back and we still couldn't score

yet the FA cup where we got beat was the only one we actually give it a go and looked like at one point we might get a win

We drew both league derbies last season mate, think we've drawn 2 of the last 4, e of the last 6, or 4 of the last 8 away derbies, not sure why people are acting like they'd be amazed at getting so much as a point, when we've gotten that under Martinez - 2nd season, allardyce. Moyes allmanahed to not lose at the out in recent years

Pretty embarrassing to read how many are just writing this game off as a sure loss, we've lost 3 of the last 8 league derbies against this lot.

Put this another way, that lot out of the last 24 points against us have gotten 14/24.
Yet they'll come intto this game full of confidence over getting 3 points, when statistically their average point per game Vs us is amongst their worst against any team in the league over that period. Their also over the last 8 season's averaging 2 point per home derby against us, again that's a lower total than they will have against nearly every other team in the league over the same period.

Yeah stats say we are unlikely to win, but they also show we should be unhappy with any loss, you'd think reading some, that we'd been getting beaten season in season out home and away by them.

The problem is Steve that the club has underperformed in the fixture over the last 15 years and that feeds into the fans views. Whichever way you want to spin it, it's not been good enough for some time. I remember in 2004 walking out of the ground and fans remarking "as usual we save our worst performance for the derby". As early as that it was something that was recognised from supporters.

I had no problems with the derby results last season, even the defeat. They were miles better than us on paper and we were broadly competitive. The frustration has been seeing Everton teams not just perform well, but at times completely fall apart in the match and look to adopt a completely different strategy in the game. Even think back 2 seasons ago at Anfield, where Ross Barkley in a good vain of form tried to imitate Vinny Jones and completely lost his head. I remember under Moyes we lost one derby after they were beaten at home by Wigan, and we went on and won the next 4 games 4-0.

I just want to see us execute our game plan. We could do this and still lose the game. For me we did this at Arsenal for 70 minutes but missed key opportunities while Arsenal were very clinical and then very lucky with their 2 opportunities. We didn't bottle that game though. And the same could happen on Sunday.

Tonight's game is important for me. I hope PSG wallop them and ideally they have an injury or 2. They will expect to roll us over. If we can hold them we stand every chance as time goes on.

It just feels that way mate.;) But in recent years a draw has been the most dominant result in these fixtures as you say.

The real problem is that we have won so few. It would be nice to get a least 1 win against them this season. Think they have the edge both in quality and in form, but we certainly have by far the better preparation for the game, and it's the first time for many years I can recall going into a derby with all of our key players (hopefully) fit.

We've been getting draws by playing anti-football.

I think most of us feel we're above that now, let's have a go at them. Which likely means a loss. But honestly I'd rather lose 3-2 putting the fear of god into them rather than nicking a 1-1 draw like we did last year, getting a dodgy penalty but getting absolutely mauled all game

In the grand scheme of things, getting a result here is meaningless. Playing actual football, the way we want to play, will help us more down the road than a 20% possession stolen point.

cant speak for everyone else here mate but who cares about a point in derbies? is it just so we can say oh we never lost again

we got a few draws but then bummed in the other half of them, id rather we win a few now and then by having a go and take some beatings along the way then just take beatings anyway but have a few more draws

We'll beat them 3-1 mate, atm they are dodging a bad result for a fair few games running, Fulham and Watford both should have taken the lead and they literally played a decent 30 minutes each game of those two after looking very ordinary, can't overlook how bad they looked Naples either or Belgrade.

Fair enough they could suddenly click and we'd be in real trouble if they do, but if they come into the game like they have a good few games this season - two European ones especially we can definitely turn them over.

We once battered them with the likes of Carl Tiler, Mitch Ward, John Oster and Danny Cadamarteri.

Mindset in this fixture is massive and we have allowed it to become a mental block.

This is so true! Now I'm not actually saying we are going to win this one but on this occasion, and hopefully for many more to come, if we get beat I don't think it'll be a mindset thing, and thats the first time I've thought that for years!

I don't think Pickford, Mina, Digne, Gomes, Gylfi, Bernard or Richarlison will go into this (or any) game with anything other than the attitude that they are there to win! Throw in to the mix the form this year of Keane and Gana and at last you'd like to think mindset shouldn't be an issue!

Even if they get a dodgy penalty Pickford will be thinking he'll save it!

Think I saw a quote from Marco saying "we will go there and play without fear" or something like that!

After all that it'll probably still come down to poor refereeing decisions, a sending off or something and the wait will go on! Everton that!

The main issue I have with them on Saturday is how good defensively they are. I think it's likely to be a 1 goal game and if I'm honest I can't see us getting back into the game at 1-0 down. They have won 11 drawn 1 of scoring first this season, but lost 2 drawn 1 from conceding first.

If we play to our best the game will be competitive. However Over the last 10 years, when expectation has been on we've not delivered. We need to shake that point. Go and play our natural game, press high, run further than them and it will put them under pressure. I think (and hope) Silva will do that too. Koeman completely re-jigged his approach at Anfield 2 years ago.

I saw a table that over the last 7 games we are actually above them. That is roughly when all of our players were in the team. Thats the level I see us at now we have all the players fit, we are a comfortable top 6 side. The players have to play like they believe it though.

They are due a collapse though. As I indicated above I think the PSG game could be interesting tonight. If they lose, particularly if they lose convincingly it will hit the confidence a fair bit.
