My only possible 2 changes would be to stick Richarlison on the left and Tosun up top to rough them up a bit at the back, also Lookman in for Walcott.

Can’t understand the shouts for changing the 11 upfront. Look at the results since we moved to Richarlison at 9 and brought Bernard in. Why change that? Tosun doesn’t have the pace to bother Van Dijk and Gomez away from home. We need Richarlison to be disrupting their quick balls they get to the full backs or Salah/Mane. If we hurry that up their actual midfield struggles to create much itself.

The RS take this fixture by the scruff of the neck from the 1st whistle. Everton just don't possess the mentality to compete.

This time, however, there are a few additions within the squad who - to me - do NOT appear to wilt under pressure: Sigurdsson, Richarlison, Mina & Pickford.

Maybe this time Everton stand a better chance than previous seasons.

Personally, I can only envisage a RS win. And I anticipate a red card for Everton too; likely for Mina.

We've made some big strides this season, but let's not fool ourselves - We're miles behind that lot

Their front three terrifies me in the same way Suarez/Sterling/Sturridge did

Tbh we only got rinsed a few times by that front three because Martinez sent out injury ravaged teams completely devoid of any tactical plan other than Kamikaze possession football. We’ve faced supposedly terrifying front threes under Moyes Koeman and Allardyce and even with poor teams we’ve not often been completely destroyed by them. Even under let Mpyes early Martinez there were a few derbies we have very good Liverpool teams a start in and then clawed them back. I don’t see this Liverpool team blowing us away (they haven’t done that to anyone this season) we just can’t gift them I. (Red card, pen, conceding set pieces) etc. I’ll be amazed if they carve us open in open play more than once with 11 v 11 that isn’t some sort of freak bobble or wonder goal.

If you'd said that last season I'd agree with you, but this season they look fairly pedestrian. City are scary, the RS are just efficient. They remind me of 1 of the poor teams that Fergie won the league with, where you got to the end of the season and thought "how did they win the league I don't remember them playing a good match".

Anyway, I always dread these games, but not this season. We are going to play our way, the same as we did away to Utd and Chlesea. We're not scared, and nor should we be. They, however, know that 1 slip and they'll stop looking at catching City and start looking over their shoulder at Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs and wondering whether they can make the Top 4.

If we can keep it 0-0 for the first hour, and get them to force the play, I fancy us to nick it 1-0. We have a far better midfield, they have a far better attack and a slightly better defence. Therefore we need to try and make sure the game is played in the middle of the pitch.

Realistically we'll probably lose 2-0, but I really think we have a chance. They nearly lost at home to Fulham FFS!

All hinges on a strong ref.

As long as our rhythm and focus arent completely upset by a shocking decison (Arsenal away, United away, every derby in living memory) then we have a real chance.

Our midfield is infinitely stronger than theirs.

Say say two thousand zero zero party over, oops, out of time
So tonight I'm gonna party like it's nineteen ninety-nine

September 1999, the world was planning for the millennium bug to destroy the world, Everton won a league Derby at Anfield, fast forward 19 years and the world is planning for World War 3 and twitter rules the world and we still wait.

Could this year finally be it? The voodoo curse lifted, form means nothing in these games, it never has, hell even the quality of the teams has meant very little over the years, its about 11 v 11 and who wants it more, year after year we have been found wanting, sure we have had a few near misses over the years, but finally we appear to have a manager who wont be afraid, personally im already bricking it.

We slogged out the 3 points versus Cardiff last game, winning ugly is something all the better teams do and that was certainly ugly, but we will need to find something extra to grab the 3 points here. Thankfully our midfield is vastly superior, which im hoping will give us the edge. Remember when Kieta had 1 good game and everybody was claiming he was the best player in the world? LOL. We all know what these are about, the 2 pacey lads up top, stop them and our task becomes much easier.

Cant see many changes for this, given how bright and tricky Lookman was yesterday I can see him being the only change, Rico didnt really play well yesterday, but this doesnt strike me as the game for Tosun, so for me he gets another chance and a chance to write his name in the history books.

Goats 11 to start :

Pickford
Coleman - Mina - Keane - Digne
Gana
Gomes - Iceland
Lookman - Rico - Bernard
I was dreamin' when I wrote this, so sue me if I go too fast
But life is just a party and parties weren't meant to last
War is all around us, my mind says prepare to fight
So if I gotta die I'm gonna listen to my body tonight
It’s gotta happen soon. Law of averages and that.

The problem at The Pit, and for our away record at these places generally, is that we could still play well and legitimately be outclassed on the day and lose by a couple of goals or more.

We do seem to have made inroads in reducing the gap just a little, thanks to the excellent signings and Silva's tactics.

Leaving dubious refereeing aside, I think all we can ask for at present is to be good enough to see through and get the result that our performance deserves. We got that at Chelsea. It goes someway going to a place like that and standing up physically and mentally and sustaining pressure, as well as being threatening ourselves, for the full 90 minutes.

The Pit is pobably the most difficult as they throw themselves at us with all they have - any idea that it means little or nothing to them is laughable. But I have seen some poor Everton sides still come away with draws there, as good as they have been.

One thing is for sure - if we dont play well for the full 90 minutes we are likely to get beaten. It demands a performance from all 11 players and subs, the right attitude on the day, calmness, and concentration.

We are allowed to take the lead as well, last time I checked. We are never going to come from behind to win there I feel.

Play well, fight, keep it simple, keep it tight, make and most importantly take our chances.

Who knows what will happen but at least we can afford a smidgeon of confidence for this. That's some progress in itself.

Our midfield is infinitely stronger than theirs.

Their midfield will try and win the game for them in the first half. They’ll shamelessly let us have possession and effectively play as the away team at home and look to just rush Gueye and Gomes in possession and sweep us away first half. If we get to the hour mark still in the game they really have nothing not heir bench to worry us and the likes of Gomes and Bernard could start controlling the possession in a way that most decent possession sides have done against them this season.

Can’t say I disagree with you despite what I wrote.

However I would consider changing Lookman for Walcott as he deserves a chance.

If it was the same XI I would be disappointed either.
