In reality we were one quality cross from Lookman away from a dispiriting draw. But at least the crowd didn't turn on them early. That was key. A lesson that needs to be learned.
Totally agree. In the end, it was a good result and the feeling of euphoria when the first and second went in was wonderful - I've missed Goodison like that.

However, if we're talking objectively then myself and those around me were not confident that we'd equalise as we hadn't really had many clear-cut chances.

The first half was lacklustre yet it was clear that Silva spoke to them at half time, he was bold and made vital changes; as a team, we didn't give up either.

I was fairly sure we’d win as soon as the penalty save occurred. Had that gone in though then I don’t think the players would have come back regardless of the crowd or not. The confidence of the squad still seems to be on a knife edge but for every action that goes our way it is growing so yesterday will have done no harm whatsoever.

I actually thought the squad have a swagger about them, an arrogance almost.
Convinced that goal goes in we still get a point minimum.
We might finally do something at Anfield with this lot.

On the hour mark that was. It looked like we ebbded and flowed after that rather than sustain an assault.

We looked like we had goals in us all game, we now have very dangerous players in attack, we misfired most of the game but it was highly likely we'd get it together and slot.

That's what I like now about us, with the new signings all available, the last couple of games we have been causing teams problems and we have serious attacking threats across the top of the pitch now, if we sort the defence and get better at defending dead balls then we are a decent team who are playing attractive football, we are a good watch at the moment.

Tbf, I thought he left Bernard on way too long and we should have had Lookman on earlier and also Tosun on earlier to take responsibility off Richarlison to lead the line.

Maybe we left it later than we need to have in order to get that match won?

To me we're still a much better away side than a home side. We looked very much like Martinez seasons 2 and 3 under Silva at home this season. Battering our heads against a brick wall pretty cluelessly.

Think this is right for the Huddersfield game (I missed West Ham as was on holiday). But against Fulham and palace I felt it was just a matter of time before we got a goal.

Some games ya think you could play for another 3 hours and not score, yesterday I felt it was coming but time was running out.

In contrast to Martinez v2 and v3 we seem to be doing most of our passing in the opposition final third as opposed to across our own back four.

When we had to go backwards yesterday the crowd kept onside as we kept momentum and pushing forwards.

Strange character our Davek, everyone says he is a true Blue but seems to rip the shreds out of anything Everton that is not Martinez related and seems to take great joy when we are not doing well.

I don't think he takes pleasure in us not doing well, I think hes just seen enough to know that a swallow does not make a summer, and yeah sometimes may go a bit extreme in this thinking, but at the end of the day he is a blue

Agreed to a point but the Martinez situation is the one that make me laugh, always quoting the record points etc but seems to forget about the next 2 chronic seasons. Maybe he is a true Blue and for that i will applaud him but sometimes he has a really funny way of showing it.

With some semblance of an actual defence behind us.....work in progress.
