Spot on, Toff.

I am still in Portugal on vacation and was reading your posts pre match on my phone and could not comment on them though I think I gave “likes”.

I agree with you.....that team was fine by me tonight and was picked with winning in mind....with one exception,

Why was Stek playing?

We know he is a tube.....I saw the goal on Sky Sports over here and to me it looked well stoppable.

Pickford should have played.....there is no need to rotate goalkeepers in a fixture like this where we were always going to have the lion’s share of possession.

And if rotated he must be, then give the gloves to that young fellow to see how he reacts on the big stage.

We know Stek’s limitations and he is old so not going to improve.....though he seems to have done well in the shoot out.
No reason why Pickford wasn't playing. Not like keepers get injured often is it. Just play him, he gives us an advantage and Stekelenburg is absolutely garbage

Rich coming from the tit claiming to be embarrassed at supporting the club
I am, thinking we’re too good to put a full team out in a cup that we’ve never won, in spite of the fact we’ve won one trophy in 31 years.

You carry on embarrassing yourself, though.

There really has no guarantee next season. If we get 7th/8th I guess there will be something to build on. You won’t bet we would have knocked out by Soton at home today would you?

Koeman got 7th Fat Sam 8th so I honestly don’t understand how 7th suddenly become a difficult task in particular all the money being spent.

7th/8th is far fteched.

We need top ten. That's it.

Players are mostly rested so they dont get injured in meaningless games, its not just about fitness.

To Silva its a meaningless game, hes not here to win trophies, hes here to get us in the CL.
Uhhhhh...I've been following Everton for 16 years and never seen us win anything except for that jarg nothing tour in the States trophy. I couldn't care less about champion's league at this point because we haven't got a prayer of competing in it. In MOST seasons we have a semi-realistic chance of winning just two trophies. Now we're down to one.

Silva is judged on WINNING. Of which he's done very little since being employed by the club.

I'm not saying I want him out, I'm just saying he's been generally what I feared he would be.

Not sure if you're on a wind up or not but... this is actually my opinion too. Transitional season where we can put some effort into one cup but not both, and the FA Cup is the far superior trophy.

But I've made my feelings on the League Cup known on here many times. I see it as a pointless waste of time and we should be open with disdain of it like Pochettino was last year.

As for Silva, I understand if you're frustrated with him tonight if for some reason you actually placed some importance on the League Cup. But you have to give him more time than a month or so before writing him off, and you have to allow him to manage the way he sees fit for a bit and see how it pans out before being strongly for or against him. That surely has to go without saying, or has everyones head fell off?
I wasn't winding anyone up.

I am 100% behind Silva.

Our best ever PL manager is a man who finished outside the Top 10 two years in a row? How have we not been relegated yet?
Record books dont lie.

72 points and 21 wins in one season. No one has ever gotnear that and wont for the foreseeable.

I actually agree with you here mate. Although I’d add Schneids and a few others to that list. This year needs to be a cleanse of all the subpar players that Martinez and particularly Walsh and Koeman bought. A top 10 finish and a massive clear out will suffice.

That being said if you’re not planning on competing for a Euro league spot, you might as well have a go at the two cups.
The two who really need to go are the two Moyes era no marks.

Agree with that.

For me, there were two changes too many tonight - and by that I mean changes that didn't really have a reason.

Bernard/Lookman needed minutes. Baines is fine as a rotation option and needs to be kept sharp. Schneiderlin I could see coming a mile off so expected it. Tosun was always going to start.

But Dowell/Stek - they weren't needed. Dowell could have been on the bench with Gyfli starting. Pickford should have played or, as you say, Virginia.

Why are you banging on about this top 10 being alls that matters when you were the one who always banged on about 5th place being just the same as 15th.
Top 10 is what the club hierachy will want. next season we go again and get a higher finish than this season.

10th then 6th/7th. That's the plan.
