Resting players tonight doesnt mean we beat Leicester mate, it just, in theory gives us a better chance with "fitter" players.

I get that people are pissed, but most of the changes tonight are what the majority of the forum have wanted, play Bernard they said, went AWOL after HT due to fitness, play Lookman they said, same thing, ive no issue with the team, if we cant beat a poor Saints side with that side then you get what you deserve.

You dont take your chances you lose games, you miss 2 out of 5 penos, you lose games.

Best to go out tonight, cos Leicester would have spanked us in the next round anyway and if not them somebody else, we generally get punted from cups the 2nd we face a team that isnt from League Two.

We get punted by West Ham at home. This is what I’m worried about. We normally get most of our points at home against the bottom 13th teams, since Moyes was here.

...he gambled, he lost. Missed opportunity but it’s not solely down to selection, I continue to be concerned with how easily teams get at us. We defend very poorly as a unit.

Agree with above post, against Fulham we could have been 0-2 down before we scored it certainly is a concern...

He did gamble but surely the lack of goals in the starting eleven stood out a country mile with only Cenk Tosun scoring this season in that starting line up....

Never really looked like scoring until the subs were made Richarlison & Walcott..

Sorry don't agree, Bernard was lost because we changed his position in the team and he was still comfortably our best player.

The subs were idiotic and ruined our shape for the entire second half, ending the game with a bunch of wingers/strikers all over the shop with very little gameplan.

Silva has made poor decisions in almost all our games so far.

I don't rate him at all.

Where have the ups been? I’ll wager we finish the season without a single notable up (win v top 6, derby win, top 6 beaten in a cup, big away win, last minute winner)

The season has only just got going.

We`ll do our usual at some point batter someone, everyone will get excited, thinking we`ve turned a corner and then lose the next five on the bounce.

It`s the Everton way.

All the new Marco out gang = the same one's calling for RM's head in the last season he was here...the ones at the time who said the LC was rubbish and if we won ANY domestic cup it wasnt a great achievement and he should be sacked.

You couldn't make that lot up. They just want blood and will contradict themselves all over the shop in getting it.

Settle down. Marco is the man.
You were on Koemans back before he even took a training session, you really are a hypocrite.

I dont rate him either mate, but he must be given time, lots and lots of time and when we are sure, I mean REALLY sure, we punt him, but hes gotta be given a fair crack.

Other teams get decent days each season, comeback wins, derby wins, wins v top 6. They might have a bad season overall but they get good moments. Everton get none. NONE. Ever.
Everton simply don't win games when losing at half time.

Think we've won once from a losing half time position in my entire life.

This season, yes.

Top 10 is the objective. Next season we build on that and go for a Euro spot.

That's the way it'll need to be.

Dont like it? Want it all this season? Tough.

There really has no guarantee next season. If we get 7th/8th I guess there will be something to build on. You won’t bet we would have knocked out by Soton at home today would you?

Koeman got 7th Fat Sam 8th so I honestly don’t understand how 7th suddenly become a difficult task in particular all the money being spent.

I'm usually very arsed at being knocked out of a domestic cup, but not that much here tonight, tbh.

Leicester was winnable but not an obvious victory for us.

We need to get top 10 and our PL house in order.

next season for the cups.

It's all good lads. Marco will get us there. ;)

Top 10 and a derby win or two. ;)

Not sure if you're on a wind up or not but... this is actually my opinion too. Transitional season where we can put some effort into one cup but not both, and the FA Cup is the far superior trophy.

But I've made my feelings on the League Cup known on here many times. I see it as a pointless waste of time and we should be open with disdain of it like Pochettino was last year.

As for Silva, I understand if you're frustrated with him tonight if for some reason you actually placed some importance on the League Cup. But you have to give him more time than a month or so before writing him off, and you have to allow him to manage the way he sees fit for a bit and see how it pans out before being strongly for or against him. That surely has to go without saying, or has everyones head fell off?
