He has DCL Tosun and Naisse up front
Martinez had Lukaku , Koeman had Lukaku for one season
Koeman lost Lukaku and despite him asking time and time again he wasn’t replaced
Losing Lukaku cost Koeman his job
Without a proper CF every manager will struggle
This type of reasoning from a manger is just a cop out.
Koeman tried to transplant a system on top of what he had and it was a shambles.
And its appearing at the moment that the powers that be haven't learnt their lesson.
If you don't think you have the players to do a good job at CF, take the glass half full mindset and adapt.
Keep the core principles but find another way to get where you want to go with what's in front of you.

Given the path Silva is trying to get to the CF isn't really the issue atm.
There are more fundamental things to address irrespective of whether he's got a CF like Lukaku or not.
I'd rather see us have more than 6 points because he's getting other things right rather than DCL tapping that goal in.
You've got to ask yourself the question - would we have won the game if DCL had scored that goal?
As it was, we had that game lost at 0-0 when the teams headed for the tunnel at half time.
Emry was in control of the game from that point on.

Silva had the players to win that match.

Silva isn't good enough but alot of managers will struggle with our clubs lack of ambition. Any ownership worth their salt would have saw we needed a top striker this summer how we never went for one I dont know.

Said it a while Batshuyai was the most realistic option and imo is the closest we could have got to a new 'Lukaku '.

hes the same age and done naff all in his career so a very poor 'new lukaku'

If by naff all you mean play for big clubs in Belgium, France, England, Germany and Spain then yeah I agree. Whats Lukaku won by the way?

His goal scoring record is genuinely fine when he is first choice as well. I'd have had Batshuayi however people on match days trying to pronounce his name gives me nightmares.

It`s not the clubs lack of ambition, as for the first time in our history, we were able to spend big.

However Koeman and Walsh blew it spectacularly, leaving us 200 mil out of pocket, with possibly a worse squad and more highly paid squad than they inherited.

When Silva and Brands and Silva arrived, they had to prioritise the most urgent areas that needed attention, ( as they saw ) and bring players in to address these areas - the defence was non existent and ageing, so that was the priority - hence why they brought 3 players in.

The strikers weren`t great, but weren`t a big as issue as the defence, plus Silva knew and trusted Richarlison to get goals, despite his drop off in form in the 2nd half of the season for Warford.

The strikers and midfield will be the next area to be addressed, in what order I don`t know, as January isn`t a great time to be buying players.

It`s not the clubs lack of ambition mate, it`s completely down to Koeman and Walsh.

Which is why we are in this hole but it is being sorted after all we have got rid of some dross.

On the playing side then yes, but there is a culture of mediocrity within this club that has been here for years. Also if we really wanted to stamp a proper impression on the league i don't understand why we went for Silva as manager. He was not my first choice but i will support him, but like Koeman i think both have far too much baggage imo. Im surprised on bringing Brands in that he was not tasked with finding a new manager. I will back Silva though as he needs time to show what he can do although im not 100% convinced he is the right guy tbh.

It`s a double edge sword mate.

We can`t attract a " big name " manager, same as we can`t attract " big name " players, as we haven`t been a " big name " club since the mid eighties.

As many others have said, we had to go for a young ambitious manager, who wants to make a name for himself and at the same time make a name for the club.

It`s Champions League or nothing I`m afraid and we`re light years away from that.

I don't see why we could'nt have gone for Bielsa for instance, he is a massive name and in the championship. Im not one for these shouts of Conte or Blanc. I still think we should have made more of a proper move for Fonseca, tbh there are 4 or 5 names i would have had before Silva but Moshiri does seem to like a flavour of the month appointment which could be slightly worrying, hence why i suggested that i thought Brands would be behind the appointment or certainly any future ones. I hope Silva manages to put something together eventually once he has his own team together.

I should imagine, that Brands wouldn`t have agreed to come, if he wasn`t happy with Silva.

Brands will be here way longer than Silva, I should imagine.

There are none as blind as those who will not see
Silva has no CF
No focal point of attack
Koeman said it and complained about it
FSA knee and tried to solve it with Tosun
Tosun has failed this season
You need a CF to be on his game to win matches.
We haven’t got one and haven’t since Lukaku left

Silva has not said this and is not using it as a cop out , unless you have verifiable evidence to the contrary you are talking wham

Marco’s gonna struggle having the CFs we have. Hank’s a poor striker who needs a loan spell back in Turkey to get his confidence back in a league that he is ok in. Eton Dom can’t hit the broadside of an aircraft hangar ... he needs selling to Milton Keynes or such-like. And Prince? ...well, we all love the once lockerless lad, but ....
In short: it’s going to be a long season. Not a lot to look forward to. But, this being Everton, we’re used to that reality.

.

I know who they are but why have you made up nicknames for them?
