Assuming Davies comes in for Schneiderlin, who will be backup CM cover on the bench? Dowell seems a bit of a stretch for that role. Is there any news on Baningime's ankle injury? He would be the obvious next in line after Gueye, Schneiderlin, Gomes, Davies, McCarthy. If Baningime too, is unfit, and with Joe Williams being loaned out to Bolton this week I'm struggling to see any other alternative other than sticking with Dowell as the option off the bench with the alternative of dropping Sigurdsson further back. Neither of them are defensively minded of course. Denis Adeniran or young Alex Denny are the other alternatives in the U23s but it would be a surprise if they were to feature. Let's hope Gueye/Davies can last the 90 mins.

Yeah I was thinking the same. Dowell should make the bench. But maybe Bernard is fit enough to make the bench and when he comes on push Gylfi further back.
