...little, slight fellas can survive, much depends on how involved they get with the physical side of the game. Pienaar moved the ball quickly, and tended to slalom past players to have a relatively long career. Osman too. These lads needs to be mentally tough and Bernard is a Brazilian international, and you have to be strong to come through in that country.

The Premier League can take physical toll on smaller guys, he needs to be clever and strong willed.

Pains me, but Coutinho should be the inspiration here for Bernard. If he turns out half as good we'll be doing just fine.

..yep. I think @havrey0123 comparison is a bit misleading because Michael Owen had a physically combatitive streak in him. Cahill wasn’t the tallest but he mixed it physically with the biggest and I think it eventually caught up with him. I expect Bernard will be more the type you allude too.

If he is good enough then size won't be a problem. A lot of central midfielders tend to be big strong ball winners and they can struggle against smaller mobile creative players.

Just to compare, his goal keeping abilities are 40.
There's a reason none of the top 6 were after him even on a free due to concerns he may not be able to handle the league.
Aguero gets barged off the ball a lot aswell but even he is 72.

Bernard was a gamble, it may pay off, but he has to improve the physical side to his game.

can't wait to see him bossing goodison yenno

not that I even remember kanchelskis but people go on abar him still now from 1 season, but I think this lad has the ability to be that good

Kanchelskis was he most exciting signing I’ve ever seen us make.

The next most exciting would have been Lukaku if he’d come from another club for £30 million after performing the way he did for us however cause we’d had him fur s year on loan it wasn’t the same.

For me and my knowledge of football, I reckon this is most excited I’ve been about seeing a player play for us since Andrei.

I think he’s a real coup and a very uneverton like transfer.
