Agree with that - "more worried about the fans getting on his and the teams back than Silva actually failing."
Someone will disagree with me, of course, but I know I'm on the right lines here. There are groups who want him to fail before he's even begun. Be it those who didn't want him because he's 'flavour of the month,' those who can't see past the 'Martinez-like' comparisons (which are lazy and unfounded) and those who are disillusioned with us as a whole because of last season.
You could see yesterday from the way he spoke that if the team fails, it won't be because he hasn't been backed in the market or anything like but because it just hasn't worked. And if it doesn't work and it's not utterly terrible - and I'm talking a genuine relegation battle here - as long as it looks like there are signs of progress, let him carry on.
This is no quick fix. I think everyone should know that. Silva and Brands absolutely do and that to me is the most important part about it.
Let him get on with the job. Back him. Let's see how it unfolds.
