Glorified loan - unless the buy back is a ridiculous fee. Which it won't be...

Shouldn't be doing them after their antics over Deulofeu.

But hey, beggars cant be choosers and we were beggers at centre half.

Agree they do this all the time, loan players out bring them back sell them for a profit. I would like to see the detail of this deal.

It all depends on the buy back fee, I think. It was something I hope we'd learnt our lesson from with Deulofeu, but in the club's defence, our window shuts a lot earlier which gives Barca extra negotiating ammunition. Perhaps this is why it's taken so long to wrap the deal up?

Hopefully the buy back is a large fee. At the very least it will be over £30m and thus not the quick and easy 'cash in, cash out' deal they had with Deulofeu, where they had nothing to lose by paying us a measly £10m or whatever it was. Unless Mina tears it up here and their buy back is barely more than what we paid, it's unlikely they'll activate it. But time will tell. At least it means we have another centre back in for the season.

Don't like the buy back but let's be honest he'll have to be doing incredibly well to buy him back, it's not like the Deulofeu deal for pennies it will still be 30+ million and a non EU squad spot as i imagine we'll have done the same deal as with Deulofeu of not being allowed to sell instantly and giving us first option.

Will give Brands time to get his scouting network up and running anyway and will have targets identified incase Barca do decide to take the option.

This is important, even if it's a stop-gap it was clearly a difficult negotiation but at least it should improve us in the short-term which we desperately needed at the back.

I like your positive outlook on this! Totally agree.

Main point being taking a non EU player bs k and they only get 5. Worst case we buy him back after!
