But thats like hating on Coleman because he cost 60 grand from a nothing team and he isnt Dani Alves? Coleman was world class value for money, as is Gana.
Coleman was, to quote you world class for little money. Gana is strictly what it said on the tin when we got him, and I doubt he will get any better. I think he was a relatively cheap and very limited player. How many good PL teams clubs would Gana get into? Answer - none. I have no downer on Gana, I am just sad that "he will do for us", but that says a lot about EFC at present.

He'd get into every side outside the top six. What's the problem with that, especially when we have over a dozen players who'd struggle to get a game in the Championship at the moment - Gana is far from our biggest problem, and he's an infinitely superior player to McCarthy.

Our very own Lucas Leivia. Gash. Absolute gash. Maxed out at 3 goals for a season, same with assists and his defensive stats are bang average for someone with terrible production. He’s a jarg DM but you’d think he’s Steven Gerrard in his prime level the way Twitter is licking his peanut butter chute.

Our best midfielder, we badly miss him.
He's a very limited midfielder, good at making it difficult for opposition attackers but without much of a clue going forward. But he does go red in the face and scowls a lot (in fact the only time I've seen him smile is when he was photographed alongside a Celtic fan).
He is a perfectly acceptable player for any club from 7th down, which kind of illustrates our predicament.

SOON.

Fit and firing, he’s an excellent no 8, sadly he’s only had one season for us injury free and he was exceptional in it.

He will fit Silva’s position perfectly, he gets a bad press on here, but some just don’t like any Everton players.

It's all about how he has recovered from the leg break, how his hamstrings have healed and if he can cope psychologically with more hard challenges.

If he can manage all those things then I think he can add some much needed energy and bite to our midfield. Alan Ball he is not but I think he gets in our starting eleven if he comes back strong and fit.

Well let's just hope he's not reading this thread and just focusing on recovery from an horrific injury...

The fact we have McCarthy, Besic, Schneiderlin, Gueye and Davies in our midfield; and no creative midfield players, symbolizes everything of what is wrong with our play at the moment. That's not a criticism of those players, they are good defensive midfielders, but playing any combo of them as a midfield partnership is basically anti-football.

4-2-3-1 with two DM's worked brilliantly in Martinez's first season when we had Baines and Coleman in their prime and a striker who slotted for fun. For obvs reasons it doesn't work quite so well when you have Martina and Kenny at full-back and Calvert-Lewin up top.
