Transfer Rumour Marcos Rojo

Rojo ey.
Is he better than Williams / Holgate / Keane ? Most definitely. Jags at 52 years old or whatever he is? Most probably.
Get him in. What's the worst that can happen?

The worst that can happen is that we would be ever so slightly less rubbish but still rubbish and will have paid a large amount to get to that point.

I am not for or against Rojo currently but we do need to be wary of this "better than what we have got" stuff as that still doesn't automatically mean they are any good.

I want my signings to be good regardless, not good in comparison to other levels of crapness.

I am just honestly amazed that out of all the top leagues and the thousands of CB's around the world, we are after Rojo. We again go for the trusty old known quantity of a PL player, which would be ok if the quantity was also quality.

What is the point of the whole scouting network?

That's the minimum expectation and not a quality that makes me immediately want to buy him. There's surely loads better than that lot that aren't failed UTD players.

Thats apparently the standard now and people are starting to convince themselves he is good. Like I said earlier, Robert Huth is better than Keane Jags and Williams and he's free so hey we should get him in.

Our scouting network is a myth.

For what it's worth, Alan Myers reckons we probably aren't even interested. Just paper talk.

Although Joyce has mentioned him now like, so..

People not realizing this was probably one of the back-up options for Silva if the Mina deal fell through, but still moaning that we've spent too much time on Mina.

Would much rather the money be spent on a PL-tested defender if I'm being honest. Seeing a player like Januzaj make an absolute fool of Mina isn't comforting.
Mina is rubbish Barcelona signed him for 11 million he played maybe 5 times then scored 3 goals in the world cup and new his price is 25-27 million I don't want him he's not a good defender and he's slow and we already have enough defenders with those attributes. At least Rojo has pace about him better buy him than spend the same on a defender who's played maybe 10-15 games in a full year.

It's amazing how we can get so many pages out of baseless rumours

They aren't baseless.

The reporters that the story came from have links to United, so you can safely assume the story came from them, at first.

Joyce jumping on it seems strange, but since Hunter and King haven't done the same (yet) it may be that Joyce has gone on a punt with the article and had the same source as the original articles.

It doesn't mean we are definitely in for him, mind. We may have just made an enquiry and that's all.

I think we could get better, but if it was a deal in the region of £16m (so what Utd paid for him four years ago) and his wages weren't too astronomical, then I'd be happy.

He's quick, he's strong and he's good on the ball and in the air. All of those traits are what we need in our defence, especially if we are going to play a high line.

Of course there are better but with 10 days left we may just be too desperate to hold out for better. Really can’t start the season with these CB’s.

Rojo played 12 games last year mate so maybe not a great signing based on the metrics you yourself have decided to use.
