I think there is little doubt that we will bring in at least two or three more players. A left back(not critical), a centre back and a dominant central midfielder could give us a decent team.

Could you please elaborate what you mean when you say not critical? I seem to remember a certain Cuco Martina playing left back for a large portion of last season, and I would really really appreciate if that didn't happen again.

Absolutely. But they won't give him time and the same moaners will end up landing us with another Allardyce type. People need to understand how debilitating for any team it is to have two centre backs who can only look effective if you park a double decker. These defenders are a disaster and mean Silva can't do what he wants. And what he wants is to have an energetic front foot team who get men in the box.

It's going to take a while but the board have no excuse not to get him at least a couple of defenders this next fortnight.

This formation will be ok if the full backs don't push on, maybe when walcott returns ,him and richie can take people on, ATM we are getting done when we push on.

If people haven't realised by now that our problems are more than just managers, then they clearly live on planet zorg.

I like Silva. I think he coaches teams to play football that is sustainable and not based on percentages, ie hoofing or winning set pieces. But this defence mean it can't work with the current personnel. He needs allowed to bring in who he wants.

Can’t see how this is going to end in anything other than an early exit. By early I'm talking Santini/de Boer early. We have an ‘easy’ first 5 games and if we are in or around the relegation zone after those first 5 then the polls will be up here and he’ll be a dead man walking. At this point I’d say the odds of us being in deep trouble after 5 games are high.

In terms of Silva himself, I don’t think he’s a good manager, in fact he’s probably a poor one but the reality 90% of managers would struggle with the rubbish at their disposal. The other 10% who could get us top half would be percentage merchants who wouldn’t endear themselves to the fan base. So something of a catch 22, although I’m certain a firefighter will have to be called in at some point this season.
