We also need to shift the captaincy away from Jags. I don't see a reason to keep him as captain, he's not the best player, he doesn't leave it all on the field, he doesn't get in the refs or oppositions faces. I don't see what he offers to that role. I'd like Marco to give Coleman a go and let his attitude flow down to the rest of the team.
Agree on that arm band, Pickford needs that, least he talks to the players and leads by example

Silva didn’t seem like Koeman last year, he seems frustrated, but not in a way that seemed against the board per se. I think they stick to the plan. He’s seen enough. They have the tough conversations, gauge the market for players, make their moves, trust that if they have to, they can sell until the end of August.

Couple of comments he’s made now seem to indicate a bit of frustration at the board/maybe even Brands? Maybe I’m misconstruing it. They just better get a move on and tie some deals up for him.
Its the first shot from Marco, if things arent going as he wants by Thursday expect fireworks.

Hes said he wants 4/5 players, get them or feel his wrath.

We were warned by the Watford fans this would happen, scary its happening so early

Ahead of time i was happy to see him come in and im not a miserable cry arse like 90% of the population on here

Watford fans did say though that we would want to hope the board backs Marco’s ambitions in regards to signings etc or the first sign of things going against him he drops tools

I am hoping that was just the scenario for them and not a pattern of behaviour as I too for the second time have picked up on the airing out the board for not having their ish together

Ive no problem with what hes said so far.

He said early on he wanted players in for pre-season and for whatever reason we havent done it, its different for Silva, if he wants to wet the bed over signings, im ok with that, its his actual job to get the squad in what he considers good shape, he rises or falls on what we do in the next 2 weeks or so.

Maybe the Goodison factor is one of the reasons we’ve never gone down? ‘Entitled booers’? We’ve barely seen a derby win in the last decade, how are they entitled?

This crowd will back even terrible players if they are giving 100% but they won’t back a load of frauds sleep walking towards relegation or trying to fire managers.
Nobody likes rubbish or lazy footballers on their team. The trouble with booing is that it effects everyone. It indiscriminately undermines confidence. It's purely destructive and does nothing to specify what you're unhappy about. It's like a baby's cry - it will cry when its hungry, scared, got wind, uncomfortable, filled nappy etc. The reason we learn to talk is to be better able to specify what we're unhappy about.
Remember the clip when Poor dim old Ross Barkley had to be told by Jags who the crowd was booing? Being told is one thing, but believing that is another.

Every crowd gives their players stick if they are playing crap, it’s even worse abroad with the white hankies and all that.

It’s not unique to us.

I wonder what he & Brands are thinking now they’ve had chance to see the reality?

Years of decay under an inept board. Lazy over-the-hill players on fat contracts, going through the motions. Worst of all, Koeman’s legacy. Has there ever been a group of players who’s market value was less than half their book value?

It’s a mess that will either take 2-3 years to phase out OR a massive write off.

I get that, and people are entitled to express their emotions. I just think when it's done to excess -possibly because the players not giving enough of themselves are paid beyound the dreams of avarice - its understandable to a degree. I'm simply saying it's brvone a habit, its counterproductive and think its becoming an unthinking bass herd behaviour.

It's the " Sky generation " too mate, they expect much more, than the old gets like me and you ;)

I suppose so. I blame the royals for bumping off Princess Di. It lanced the nation's stiff upper lip and gave an audience to those tiresome attention seekers who climb over one another to show that they hurt the most.

him or Pickford but favour Coleman as you say .

I really hope Silva is just watching and learning and will make his own decisions, but so far Williams has been captain in pre-season Arrrhghh when Jags isn't playing.

Surely Jags will have to understand, still be a leader on the pitch, but support the choice of Coleman or Pickford

Pickford is a leader anyway and it might actually keep him longer, and feel like we are building the team with him at the centre, but Coleman would be great.
