What if Silva has had conversations with the likes of Lookman Vlasic and Dowell and said they’re actually going to be played rather than sitting on the bench on loan. Add in Walcott and there’s 4 wide players before you even count Bolasie and Mirallas who haven’t left yet. Why would we buy another one just now?
Dowell doesn't seem to fit into the dynamic high press model that Silva would have us believe we'll be playing.Hope I'm wrong and he can fit the system.

Think we’re gonna go with what we’ve got, we’ve not got a pot to piss in. Batten down the hatches boys it’s gonna be a bumpy ride.

23 days to dispose of at least 5/6 via sale or loan not counting youth players but there’s not a huge rush for that.

23 days to bring in 4 quality signings or we can just write off another season.

We can still sell into other leagues until Aug 31st.

I don't know maybe because vlasic and dowell aren't even "wingers" there more in the middle who could float out wide but deffo not wingers

Dowell hasn't even been tested in the prem yet so that's a big gamble to rely on him anyway, likewise vlasic who didn't start many last season and when he did it was all over the place ( I think his best performances came under koeman in the middle as well )

I like lookman and Walcott but were an injury away from having bendy legs bolasie on the wing again, deffo need a winger in my opinion ( not as much as a LB & CB though )

I think you are right, whoever comes in now will probably be on the periphery of the squad, the majority of the starting 11 will come from the existing squad now. Overall I can only see us signing 3 players, with maybe some loans on deadline day, if we manage to move some more players out. Ideally we need to push some of the unwanted players out the door this week, but it means taking a hit on the transfer fee's for players like Bolasie.

I agree it would be nice to see some of the younger players given a go, but they have to deserve their place in the side. The manager will want to start strongly, as we have seen many times in the premier league, if you dont start well, you dont last long. Hopefully some of those players you mentioned have a great pre season and are in the starting line up for the opener against Wolves
We will not be making wholesale changes to the team... I think that was accepted from the very beginning.
It will be much easier to get a couple of players to fit into a group that are already familiar with each other than bringing a lot of new players together and hoping they gel...pretty much what we did last summer.

It’s about the balance, looks like to me that Silva also likes to dominate possession. So players like dowell will be important.

No good having players who run all day and press, If they are giving the ball away. Basically defeats the object.

I cannot believe Brands and Silva both came in knowing there was nothing to spend. Also why would Moshiri pay for a new DOF etc if we had nothing at all? He may as well have saved himself a few quid and just told the PE teacher to get shot of the sh@t he bought last year. Once we see a few more out, there will be incomings, I’m absolutely sure of it.

This week is going to see a lot of people get very stressed and rightly so. It’s worth noting that a lot of business gets done in the last week of the window - all parties (buying and selling clubs, players, agents etc) are trying to drive the best deals they can get.

Just like last season when clubs knew we were buying and squeezed us, they know we need to sell this season, we’re probably a bit of an easy touch at the minute.

As unfounded as it may be, i have more faith in the current reigieme to do a better job. Last season was such a failure that it could only have added pressure and focused minds.

I’m placing some blind and perhaps misguided faith in Brands, silva and the new board to get us back on track.

I’ll probably regret this.....
If they don't buy anyone, they might well have done better business...

Im still pretty relaxed about it as personally Id rather have a couple of quality additions over a flurry of signings where we're all scratching our heads where they will fit in.

I also think we are really struggling to move players on which in turn stunts what we're trying to do. I think when we see one or two more moved on we will see some action.
