Rooney should see his contract out...

Experience, goals, assists, influence ,winning mentality, boyhood team,England top goalscorer ever, captain & bringing on the young players..

Why is this even in doubt...

I genuinely think he tried that last year and with the best will in the world I it seems clear his legs are knackered.

It appears (and I may be wrong) that he took the Ricky Hatton approach to down time. Unfortunately for Wayne it’s not 1978 anymore and when age catches up with you it’s too late to do something about it after the fact.

Maybe she should have came back to us in his late 20s instead of holding united to ransom to get his massive contract. No room for sentiment here I’m afraid.
Wouldnt he have been minus 8 then?

Experience, enough of them
Goals, take away his pens he doesn't score many
assists, how many did he get? wasn't many
Influence, fair does
winning mentality, didn't matter one bit last season
boyhood team, so? didn't matter to him when he legged us off for united
englands top scorer, so? lets get bobby Charlton signed up then so we can have englands top 2 goalscoreres and go for the league
captain, he's not even captain
bringing on young players, having rooney here would block the progress of young players

One more season for me would love to see him win a trophy with Everton....

Take your points though...

I wish he could have adapted his game to play a deeper role. Gullet did it as a sweeper but I thought Rooney would have made a good deep lying play maker like Pirlo. Although he ability is there his positional play isnt disciplined enough. He is the kid at school that is everywhere but where he should be and wants to take the all the corners, throwing and goal kicks.

His passing seems to have fallen of a cliff though. His first touch too. Even against average opposition towards the end he’d be getting caught on the ball loads or misplacing 5 yard passes. Pitlochry kept his peerless technique so teams were happy to carry him in the team regardless of his lack of pace. Rooney just isn’t good enough to make that sacrifice.

I think the initial problem, was that he pretty quickly worked out he was playing with a load of turds and decided to try to take responsibility for everything himself.

He`d obviously worked hard pre season and looked in good shape at the start of the season.

He could`ve done with playing a bit less after the first dozen or so games, as he started to struggle to last a full 90.

He couldn`t be benched though, as to a certain extent he was carrying the team and the only one who really looked like scoring.

Then Allardyce arrived and he probably hadn`t ever been instructed to play " Allardyce Style " footy in all the time he`s been playing footy - bear in mind he was at the Academy from the age of 8 and there was no way they were teaching kids to just web the ball up.

It was all downhill from then onwards, as he just became physically and mentally drained by the hopelessness of playingfor Allardyce and his industrial style of footy.

As many of said, he`s not a full 90 player on a regular basis anymore, but he can deffo still do a very important job for any team.

Unfortunately his wages are too high, for him to play the impact role at Everton.
