2017/18 Morgan Schneiderlin

Silva managed to get a tune out of Niasse at Hull and Cleverley at Watford, so maybe he can light a fire under Shiterlin. However I’m disappointed that we may not ever get to see Big Willy wear the shirt.

I thought Snides was a great player. He oozed class and was quite brilliant. Then something went wrong and he stunk the place out. His attitude went south and personally I would have sold him this year. If our new manager thinks he can get something out of him, then fine, I know he has the talent. But if he reverts to what we have seen then January isn’t far away......

Last thing this club needs is players like him who the fans will turn on....

I'm not against him staying. His issues are attitude not talent. Which is a bit sad tbh. But if Silva thinks he can get him firing then I'm OK with this because he's a far more talented player than Gueye. Managers have to make these tough calls, let's hope he is rewarded.

Was quite relaxed about the lack of action in the transfer market so far, both ins and outs, but this news has put the right dampener on my optimism for the new season already.

Sincerely hope the information is not correct.

Not surprised by this as this was in the Echo last week..

Will Morgan Schneirderlin be kept on?
This is where Marco Silva's comments about his system really get interesting.

The "No. 6" role will clearly be an important factor in what the Portuguese boss has planned for the Blues, and he makes specific mention to Morgan Schneiderlin and his abilities in that position.

Silva said: “Depending the profile of my No6, I can play one and two or I can play two and one behind the striker depending on the profile of our No6.

“If we play Schneiderlin he is a player who likes to play more alone which gives more freedom to the other two midfielders and this is the system I use more."

Interesting that he mentions Schneiderlin in particular, a man who seemed to have questions over his future at Goodison Park.

The midfielder endured a difficult campaign for the majority of last season, although his performances did noticeably improved towards the end of the term.

There have been rumours of interest in the 28-year-old recently, but those comments seem to suggest he would be perfect for Marco Silva's system.

So, was the manager hinting Schneiderlin will stay? Or does he just want a midfielder of that profile?

William Carvalho has been linked with a switch to Goodison Park over the last few weeks, and maybe he could be the one to fit into that role.

Silva's comments would also suggest that he doesn't see Idrissa Gueye playing in that No. 6 role, so could we perhaps see the Senegalese international used in a slightly more advanced role?

Time will tell.

Seems he likes him and thinks he’ll fit in the system he likes to play. Fair enough really and we’ve gotta trust him. There’s plenty of others I’d prefer to see punted anyway tbh.

Sounds like no Carvalho then.

I dont mind Morgan tbh he's a decent player but he isnt a top quality one and up against the best midfields he looks out of his depth.
Its looking more and more like funds are not there for more than 2-3 positions this summer (likely CB, LB and possibly LM)

Sure I read somewhere that the no 6 player is the key player for Silva's formation? So It's not surprising if he wants to give him another chance, I'd rather see him go because his attitude is a flip of a coin but he did start performing towards the end so it's whatever.
