Dumb question...do FFP rules include the manager's salary?

Ok but is the manager's salary included in these wage figures? Is Joan in accounting? Bob the groundskeeper?

I am just trying to think of out of the box ideas with regard to manager recruitment. A contract with a strong base (on par with the best paid in the world) but also has varying degrees of insentives built in.

I can't remember Hull selling anyone decent during the season. They did not lash out on transfers, certainly, but that was wise.

No, Hull was relegated while Silva was in charge. Fat Sam has managed his way out of trickier corners and has done it over years.

I am not in the anyone- but- Sam corner but would like a proven operator with the ability to bring a smile to the fans faces. If we can't get
Howe or top proven foreigner like Emery then Sam would be far better than Viera, Silva, Fonseca or any of the nutty names that have been bandied about.

A couple of things...Fonseca currently is top of the poll for next Everton manager on this very thread...Someone who has had 6 clubs since 2012.
Again...a tentative link to this thread..but talking hypothetically, it would be interesting to hear your views on how the likes of Fonseca, Mourinho Emery et al would have fared at Hull or Watford?

Do you mean would they have done better at Hull if they had gone there ? Well the easy answer is becuase there not poor managers they wouldn' go there in the first place.

But to give you a correct answer I would say No, its not the level they excel at, they wouldn't understand it. Big Sam does, if he had gone to Hull they might of stayed up.

If we hope to avoid relegation next season and aspire to beat the drop Silva might be a good choice, if we are hoping to get top 10 but would be happy to be better then 4th from bottom yes let's go for Silva, accordng to some the mighty Hull City played well under him, maybe we can be as good as they were

I get anxious when folks start mentioning 'take a risk' or 'gamble' or 'flyer' or similar.

That's what we've done too often. Sometimes such a strategy can work but usually it won't.

We need the most successful world
class manager we can afford (if that means bloody expensive, then so be it!).

No objections from me . I think he's doing very well at NYC FC. He was considered for the Newcastle job a few years ago and he's progressed further since then.
If there is a real link ,which there probably isn't, I see no reason why he can't be considered.

Silva went to Hull when they had no chance of staying up..Phelan had more or less taken them down.
How do you think Fonseca Emery or Mourtino would have faired if they had been the manager of Hull in those circumstances?
Do you think they would have saved them from relegation?

Leonardo Jardim doesn't ever appear to be heavily linked anywhere, thought he would be amongst the top names for Arsenal.

I don't have a hope we would get him, or whether it would be possible, but he would still be my ideal candidate.

Probably not but its worth considering where they were on his arrival. He has taken them from the bottom half to competing at the very top. As I have said he was highly rated when he was still at Man C. and was interviewed for the Newcastle job. At this point he is undoubtedly someone with potential rather than fully proven.
In the end there are many preferable experienced managers out there, but commenting on an albeit spurious link, I personally wouldn't be opposed to his appointment.
