Didn't the FSW have a fallout with his then no.2 and from then on his rs career nosedived?

This extract from The Times today says its the third time (unlucky, hopefully)
There will be disappointment among Liverpool supporters and a sense of uneasiness also at the prospect of history repeating itself.

Gérard Houllier won a cup treble in 2001, including the Uefa Cup, but lost his assistant, Patrice Bergues, who returned to France. The club was unable to maintain the same level of progress the following season.

In 2007, weeks after the club’s Champions League defeat to AC Milan, the assistant manager, Pako Ayesteran, quit Liverpool after a fall-out with Rafael Benítez. Ayesteran was perceived as crucial to the club’s success under Benitez and the club never managed to replicate the heights they reached in the years after his departure.

Maybe there is someting in that,Arsenal already hired former Dormund Director of football Sven Mislintat, also players Aubemeyang ad Mhiktaryan and apparently interested in Dortmund defender Sokratis,so maybe Misintlat recommended Buvac to them too.Interesting, lol imagine if this guy is brain behind Klopp and Arsenal start playing gegenpressing next season haha

Sven was our chief scout, I think he's doing the same job for Arsenal. I am sure they are hoping he's going to do more than just buy all our ex players :p

But yes, he will know Zeljko Buvac very well from their time together in Dortmund.

Are people overpaying this brains of Klopp bit or is he really that important.
Just don't trust assistants taking over. I have yet to see them successful when stepping up.

the brains thing comes from something Klopp said himself ages ago in an interivew, and it got picked up on. He said that Zeljko was the brains of the team and Peter Krawietz was the eyes of the team. I kinda saw it as typical Klopp downplaying his role in a way, something he's done a lot, he loves giving his assistants credit.

But Buvac is an outstanding coach. I think the deal is, is that of course both he and Klopp have very much the same ideas about football and how it should be played, but Buvac is the one who transfers their ideas onto the pitch. He is like the academic of the pair, the one who puts it on paper and then onto the pitch. He's the one in the training sessions who will actually place players where they need to be to carry out their patterns of play.

It would remain to be seen how either does without the other I would say. As they've not worked a lot apart. Buvac did work as a head coach for a while, but at lower league level in Germany before going back to Mainz to be assistant coach to Klopp.

I honestly have no idea if he would make the step up into the limelight well. But he is a superb coach, he is like a football encyclopedia.

That's way to insightful! If you know what Sammy Lee and Craig Shakespear do then let us know!:D

Hopefully Munich can get through tonight. Liverpool (assuming there in there) will struggle against there back 4 plus Javi Martinez sitting as DM and lewandoski is the type is striker they struggle against.

If Madrid get through they will likely adopt the same tactics as man city did.

And in an earlier generation there was much joy among Blues when Shankley left.

But they soon embarked on their golden era under his second in command, Paisley, leading people to believe Bob had been the power behind the throne all along.

The difference is Madrid have more match winners and final experience. The game wont be played at the Pit.
